WE HAVE THREE QUESTIONS:
1. Do you shave?
2. Do you like to save money?
3. Have you ever experienced razor burn, irritation or an uncomfortable shave?
If you answered YES to any, or all, of them than you need to see this!
Leaf combines amazing, time-tested blades with modern shaving ergonomics so that you can stop renting your shave and OWN your shave.
We designed Leaf because we were tired of paying the Big Shave companies.
And paying Shave Clubs for the same disposable razors wasn't much better.
So we took it upon ourselves to innovate the product and break the blade-and-razor strategy. And we're incredibly excited to announce the Leaf Razor, the product of more than a year of design, iteration, testing and refinement!
This is really simple, there's a better way to get a great shave for a fraction of the cost of disposable razors. But you don't have to give up on the modern conveniences of a comfortable pivoting head and multiple blades.
The Leaf Razor is the best shave we've ever had, hands down.
The Leaf Razor is an all-metal, beautifully designed razor handle that integrates double-edge razor blades into a modern form factor. With a pivoting head and multiple-blades. We've created a razor that can compete head-to-head with the most advanced razors in the world, while allowing our customers to replace their blades for CENTS not dollars.
The Leaf Razor has unique technology to adjust aggressiveness that can't be found in any other cartridge shaving system! The Leaf Razor can hold 1, 2 or 3 blades where each blade position has a different level of aggressiveness engineered via blade exposure. This means that you can adjust the aggressiveness of the shave whenever you want.
It might sound like a paradox to suggest that our solution is both cheaper to use, and introduces new features to give you a better shave...
But it's true.
Experience convenience with Leaf Razor
What do we mean by convenience?
Well, 200 blades for Leaf fit in the same footprint as 4 traditional cartridges. That's incredible!
It also means that replacement blades are always there when you need them.
You don't need to keep using old, worn-out, cartridges just because you forgot a trip to the store, or because the UPS guy hasn't shown up yet.
The Leaf Razor is not a shave club - because we believe that you need to OWN your shave, not RENT your shave.
Watch how to load the Leaf Razor!
HOW ARE THE BLADES SO CHEAP?
Leaf uses 1/2 of any standard Double-Edge (DE) blade. There are dozens of options easily available at pharmacies or online (e.g. Amazon), including the Leaf preferred blade which will be supplied on our website after campaign close, and with each of our Kickstarter pledge levels.
This is a DE blade
This is how you snap a DE blade into two halves within it's existing packaging. Easy!
Each of these blade edges costs as little as 5 cents per piece. So count it out with us...
Tapered Exposure System
Tapered Exposure is what we call our proprietary tapering of the blade aggressiveness. Check out the diagram below - it shows examples of what you can achieve when you have the flexibility to place each blade individually!
One might use the most aggressive position to remove hair with the grain, but disengage the first blade (check out the third configuration from the left) and shave against the grain with a less aggressive, comfortable, shave.
First, we designed for function...
Shaving razors involve putting a blade to your skin and dragging it along, balancing comfort, cutting ability, blade longevity, aggressiveness and speed among many factors.
Our early prototyping focused on getting the razor head portion right, including adjusting blade exposure and position, gap, angle-of-attack, and mounting. Throughout these early iterations we not only learned how to control these factors, but how to manage other important features like fluid flow through the design.
We kept our eyes on how each design iteration affected rinse-ability, especially as we started stacking in first two, then three blades through our proprietary technology.
Because we are both engineers, our ability to quickly iterate and hone in on the right design while balancing the myriad of features that are important for a shaving razor allowed us to create the Leaf Razor.
Then, we designed for form.
We knew that we could make a quality razor that delivered the experience we envisioned at the start of this project.
Leaf is designed to be shown. It's an organic work of art crafted to sit comfortably in any bathroom around the world. Leaf's all-metal, weighted construction, is precisely balanced in your hands.
But we also wanted to create a really good looking razor, one that we would be happy displaying out in the open.

Thank you, really, for all of the support. We believe in a simple mission: Create products that have insane value and get it out to as many people as we can. Shaving might be a chore for many, but there's no reason that we can't keep moving the art forward and finding better ways to you looking your best and feeling confident.
ABOUT THE FOUNDERS
The Leaf Shave Company was founded by two Adams who desire to infuse true product innovation into shaving technology. Both come from complimentary backgrounds in engineering, product development and business with the necessary skills and track record to successfully bring a product like the Leaf razor to market.

Follow Leaf's Kickstarter Campaign progress in partnership with the StartUp Burgh podcast because we believe in transparency with our founding backers.
Leaf co-founder Adam Simone runs the podcast StartUp Burgh (www.startupburgh.com) which is focused on telling the stories of startups in our home-town, Pittsburgh. Adam has launched a special podcast series based on the Leaf Shave Company so that our backers can get behind the scenes access to the campaign that they are pledging to.
This podcast will augment our normal communication on this Kickstarter campaign page.
SERIES 1 - "THE CAMPAIGN" Throughout the entirety of this campaign we will release "Leaf Micro-Episodes" which will be quick peaks into the campaign's progress, activities, challenges and opportunities that we encounter.
SERIES 2 - "LEAF DELIVERS" After the close of the campaign, we will augment our normal Kickstarter page updates with in-depth podcast episodes discussing that update and providing even more color.
We're not doing this because we like more work (ha!), but because we recognize and appreciate the support from you, our founding supporters, and we want to provide as much value to you as we can!

Risks and challenges
As we gear up for production of the Leaf Razor, it is possible that there will be some small adjustments in order to improve the product for usability or manufacture. All adjustments will be made with the end-user experience in mind and we will do our best to keep the final production product as close as possible to the prototypes represented in this Kickstarter campaign. If any changes are indeed incorporated into the final design we will communicate these as well as the rationale behind them. Both of the Leaf Shave co-founders are experienced in bringing products to market through design, customer feedback and manufacturing. We are always open to critical and constructive input throughout this process.
We are constantly evaluating our manufacturing methods and partners, developing relationships with primary and secondary suppliers to create a supply chain that is robust and vetted. There are many moving parts in production, quality control, shipping and logistics that can cause delays, especially when these activities are being put into play for the first time. As founders of Leaf Shave, we recognize these risk points and have years of experience in minimizing those risks with a track record of developing and manufacturing products of all kinds, including medical-grade compliant products, and delivering to timelines and budgets. We will keep communication with our backers high throughout the process.
The Leaf Razor design has been developed with careful consideration to our ability and our suppliers' ability to control product quality. We aim to deliver a customer experience that is consistent in exceeding expectations.
Those experienced in bringing a product to market are familiar with issues and delays that come to bear from time to time. It is our goal to minimize these through the Kickstarter campaign fulfillment process, but we have additionally built in extra time in our dates to accommodate.Learn about accountability on Kickstarter
