Cyclists blame drivers and drivers blame cyclists. These negative interactions leave us feeling nervous, upset and unsafe.
Glove’s smile emoji makes waving more meaningful - an excuse to do it more often. We want to grow this culture of goodwill to build a movement. Beginning with the only glove that says ‘thanks’, ‘hi’, ‘my bad’, ‘I’m here’, ‘nice one’.
Just like a smile, waving shows mutual respect. It eases tensions and makes journeys more enjoyable for everyone.
Glove cleverly combines a highly visible and friendly form with technical performance. It works really well and makes you safer too.
Check out Tim’s Instagram page, he posts loads of cool cycling stuff and is a stickler for details when it comes to reviewing cycle gear.
We’ve been testing Glove for over a year - and it works! Here are some reactions to our gloves we’ve caught on camera…
Back us today and let’s turn this wave into a movement. The more gloves out there waving, the bigger the change in everyone’s behaviour. We’ve been on the roads with everyday commuters, once-a-weekers and weekend warriors, product testing and reaction gathering. We have had overwhelmingly positive feedback!
We’ve spent a year and a half developing Glove with one of the world’s leading glove manufacturers. Following extensive sampling and design revisions, the gloves are almost ready, we just need your help to get them over the line.
A brief history of what we’ve done so far and what we hope comes next.
Everyone’s hands are different, here are some guidelines to help pick the right size so that Glove ‘fits like a glove’. Our research shows that people go for different things; slightly loose, tight fitting, or somewhere in the middle.
If you’re around the top end of the dimension range for a Medium you might go for either a tighter fitting Medium or a looser fitting Large.
They will both fit, so pick whichever one you prefer.
Because we’re just starting out, our first run of gloves is limited. We're asking for your support to help produce them, so when you’ve worked out your size, CLICK to get your hands on a pair before anyone else at a special Kickstarter backer discount :)
Your support is really important to us. As this is our very first product we want to thank you for your help in getting this off the ground. Become a founding backer and get all of the following:
Glove will be packaged carefully so it can fit neatly through your letterbox and therefore cost effective to send anywhere in the world.
A reminder to be nice.
Glove has been created by Loffi, designers and everyday cyclists Jack Hudspith and Ben Pawle.
We met at Glasgow School of Art over a decade ago and have been designing and making things ever since.
Glove is our direct response to the increasing anger and animosity we have faced while cycling, whether to work or in our spare time. With backgrounds in architecture and design we set to work, with one goal in mind, to improve the negative interactions people experience on their bikes.
We are incredibly proud of Glove and its little face. We believe its personality will have a positive effect on our road culture. We hope you enjoy it, just as much as we have enjoyed getting it ready for you.
Risks and challenges
1. We’re new to this
With backgrounds in architecture and design we know the relationship between designer and maker is key. As this is our first project in the garment industry we decided early on to work with experts who represent some of the most well-respected glove brands on the market. We have therefore had excellent guidance in sourcing fabrics, suppliers and fit.
As a team we know how to make complex things, from intricate technology products to large scale buildings. We've applied the problem-solving experience and principles and practices we have learnt from these industries to the design and production of Glove.
2. Quality Control
Working with new suppliers in different time zones brings lots of challenges. We have worked hard on the sampling process over a long period of time, so that we can feel confident Glove is ready for manufacture. We hope that by sampling thoroughly we have helped to mitigate the risks associated with its manufacture as much as possible.
Once your pledges are in and we’re happy the production run is of the same quality we’ve experienced so far, your gloves should be on your hands before the weather gets too nippy :)
At Glove’s heart is positive interaction, and likewise we will make sure we keep our backers fully informed throughout the process and do everything we can in order to get Gloves on our amazing backers' hands in good time. Your pledge is helping us to finalise production, and as soon as we have a delivery date confirmed we'll let you know. Current timelines suggest gloves could be with you as soon as November.Learn about accountability on Kickstarter
