In Guild Lords, 2-5 players take on the role of leaders to powerful Guilds within a fantasy setting, each with their own special abilities that revolve around one of the four power sources, thieving, or using wealth.
Players start with 20 influence and 7 cards. In an attempt to gain power and control, the players take turns playing heroes, equipment, spells, and artifacts to raise their influence, flip opponent's cards, and damage and hinder opponents.
The round ends when everyone no longer wants to play any cards and the levels in the upper right corner on face-up cards you control are totaled.
If you're not in first place, you take damage to your influence. Then the table is cleared, hands refreshed to 7, and you start a new round. Occasionally players lose all of their influence and are eliminated and the stakes rise, making the fight deadlier and requiring more strategy and care. Can you be the last Guild standing? While sharing some mechanics with traditional trading card games, Guild Lords is not a trading card game. Therefore only 1 deck is needed for up to five players to play and enjoy. Approximate playtime is 30-120 minutes based on the number of players.

The Guild Lords Card Game was originally a concept I had while in college around 2007. The concept and original cards, hand-written on poster board, were a 3 month project that I did in my local library in between classes and assignments. When it was finished, my classmates, who lived in the dorm with me, playtested, edited, and worked on it for nearly 2 semesters until it was all I wanted it to be. After nearly 10 years and several revisions, it has become a competetive, fun, and easy to learn game that can be played casually.
After making countless games of my own over my lifetime, I have never been more proud of one as I am of Guild Lords. I am using the funds from this campaign to obtain copyright and trademark rights, domain name, web service, and web design for a website to sell from, and make good production quality versions of the game (no more posterboard) to be published and sold. A certain percentage is assumed in the funding to create and ship rewards, but profit is not a concern and no percentage of the funding goal is going into my pocket. In fact, the funding goal represents the bare minimum i need, but if I were to go over it, the excess would still go back into the game, improving graphic design, box art, and anything else i can think of to improve. Any profit made by myself will be after the website and publishing takes place.
The game will come with an 85 card deck, 11 token cards, 6 guild cards, and instruction booklet.
One 20-sided die per player or some other way of tracking player influence such as a notepad or other dice is required. (Dice are only included in $30 and $33 reward packages. Dice shown in the picture are not necessarily the ones you will recieve. Colors will be random.)
Oversized cards in the $30 and Deluxe rewards are 3.5x5.5 in. and linen textured versions of the guild cards.
Guild Lords is already production ready as seen in the above pictures, however it is still being worked on and some of the artwork or visual design is subject to change as better artwork and design becomes available.
Furthermore, this type of game is easily expandable. When this campaign is successful, I garauntee a future campaign or the availability of expansion sets, adding new cards, game modes, and features on the website once it is running.
If you have any questions about Guild Lords or the campaign, feel free to message or comment here or on my facebook and I will answer as soon as possible.
Risks and challenges
Given that this concept and game were made over 10 yrs ago and were extensively playtested and edited then, in addition to newer models currently being playtested, mechanically the game is sound and balanced.
The only real risk is that, while I expect to have rewards to everyone by mid-December, due to the nature of production on this type of product, an exact date in which rewards will be ready and shipped cannot be garaunteed. I will however, do everything in my power, from marking the manufacture as urgent and overnight shipping, to see that you recieve your rewards as soon as humanly possible.
