Update (2015/2/17) - KR and TW Server can now be selected!
We received some voices from our fellow Korean and Taiwan users about their server. With the help of our Korea company and the Taiwan company, now you can choose your in-game rewards including the Virtual Currency Bonus, to be sent to your account on CosmicBreak 2's Korea service or the Taiwan service as well! Following will be the exchange rate applied to the Virtual Currency Bonus for those regions.
We have been notified that the Korea and Taiwan services are respectively in preparation for release within this year!
*In case the ForEx rate may change drastically in the next 30 days, we may adjust the KRW and NTD Bonus Rate accordingly. We will not adjust the amount by USD Bonus Rate.
Update - Virtual Currency Bonus Added!! (2015/02/15)
Thank you for the supports, we are having a great start with the CosmicBreak 2 Kickstarter project. We realized that there was one more thing that we can add as a reward; "virtual currency" to be used in CosmicBreak 2! Please see the following chart to know how much virtual currency you will be able to get for each pledged amount. You can also select whether you wish to receive the bonus in the JP server or the US server (the conversion rate to the virtual currency will differ by USD and JPY due to the ForEx rate discrepancy).
For example, if you are the "NEW HERO", you can choose from receiving 10 USD worth of virtual currency in the US server, or receive 1,200 JPY worth of virtual currency in the JP server. If you are the "Early Bird STEEL HERO", you can choose from receiving 30 USD worth of virtual currency in the US server, or receive 3,600 JPY worth of virtual currency in the JP server. You are eligible of choosing only 1 server; either the JP server or the US server for having your bonus to be sent.
Please note that you are not eligible to gain any additional virtual currency bonus aside of this chart, and the USD/JPY-to-Virtual Currency Exchange Rate to be applied on this chart will be the base exchange rate used from the Official Service, which will be excluding any bonus rate to be applied.
*In case the ForEx rate may change drastically in the next 30 days, we may adjust the JPY Bonus Rate accordingly. We will not adjust the amount by USD Bonus Rate.
CosmicBreak 2 is the sequel title to the widely popular CosmicBreak and is being built from the ground up using new technologies in order to deliver a smoother, more open-ended experience. Include in these technologies is a physics engine which allows interactive, destructible environments and shaders that give the game its signature look.
Like its predecessor, CosmicBreak 2 is a fast-paced action game that pits teams of players against each other in arena combat. With traditional FPS-style controls and gamepad support, CB2 is both easy to learn and hard to master. Whether you’re the type who prefers to get up close and physical or the type that prides themselves on their ability to pick targets off from afar, there’s a weapon and frame to fit your playstyle.
You are not alone in this galaxy so long as there are robots and humanoids in search of the elusive Cosmic Pieces. With the same objective and the same destined battles, you are bound to cross their paths. 3 humanoid girls with different backgrounds boarding the same ship aimed for combat in their quest for the Cosmic Pieces are the first characters you will come across in this galaxy. They will introduce you to the world of CosmicBreak 2.
CosmicBreak 2 features a variety of stages upon which the Cosmic League battles are held, each with their own unique appeal and mechanics. Players will be able to freely traverse each of these stages, using the terrain to their advantage. Whereas flying types will be able to simply soar over and around most obstacles, speedy ground types can jump off of walls to reach higher positions. Many objects found within stages may be destroyed if they take enough damage. For example, a bridge offering unimpeded access to a nearby objective can be toppled by destroying the supports below it. Map hazards and other random events will require players to stay on their toes while maneuvering through the stage. As an example, fragments of a Cosmo Piece may fall from the sky during battle. Players who manage to pick one up will receive a temporary boost. Once enough time has elapsed, a meteor might come crashing down instead, dealing stage-wide damage and altering the terrain for the remainder of the battle.
Destroying the support pillars on this bridge will cause it to crumple and break under its own weight.
In addition to terrain changes, the appearance of Cosmoloids and Humanoids will change as they take damage. As pictured below, character clothes and/or armor will allow you to discern critically damaged targets simply by looking at them.
CosmicBreak 2 takes place in a universe inhabited primarily by highly advanced mechanical lifeforms known as "Cosmoloids" and organic lifeforms known as "Humanoids." As a player, you will assume control of Cosmoloids and Humanoids and compete in the Cosmic League in order to win the ultimate prize - a Cosmo Piece.
Each species lived in relative peace until a mysterious form of matter was discovered on a border planet. The material came to be known as the Cosmo Piece for its seemingly endless applications. In time, it was discovered that the material was the product of accreted particles on planets with a certain type of gravitational field. Tensions grew between those vying for control over the planets which produced this precious matter until finally, hostilities erupted into full-blown war.
After decades of brutal fighting and increasingly more powerful weaponry, a committee was formed to defuse the situation in a way that wouldn't result in galactic annihilation. Their solution was the Cosmic League; a galaxy-wide tournament to determine a suitable owner for a Cosmo Piece. With strict rules in place regarding combat and the combined forces of every major political power behind it, the Cosmic League proved to be an effective method to arbitrate disputes over the rights to the next Cosmo Piece. With time, tensions eased and the Cosmic League gradually evolved into a spectator sport in which the winner would be declared the strongest in the galaxy.
Players assume control of robots and/or humanoids that enter the league, each with their own personal reasons to fight for the Cosmo Pieces being contested. In battle, players are divided into two teams and attempt to deplete the opposing team's Battle Points before their own reserves run dry. While destroying enemy units serves to chip away at their Battle Points, the destruction of the opposition's Base Towers will end the battle in your favor much more quickly. As time progresses, Base Towers will begin to spawn at different locations up to a maximum of 4 times.
Each character falls into one of six primary types, each with their own unique role on the battlefield.
・The ASSAULT type relies on its extreme mobility to fight in close combat. With their relatively light armor and weaponry, they tend to be trickier to use effectively than other types. Recommended for advanced players.
・The PANZER type frame is a close combat fighter like the ASSAULT type, but instead relies on brute force and their general durability to devastate enemies.
・The AERIAL type is a nimble but fragile flying fighter that excels in close and mid-range aerial combat. AERIAL types specialize in peppering enemies from the air before closing in for the finishing blow.
・The BUSTER type specializes in bombardment tactics and long range warfare. Slow and heavy, these frames lack defenses against close quarters combat, making positioning key. Recommended for beginners.
・The FORTRESS type are slow-moving aerial frames that specialize in extended high-altitude flight. These frames are best used to rain death from the relative safety of the skies.
・The JAMMER type specializes in interfering with enemies. These frames possess weapons that inflict detrimental effects such as reducing movement speed or neutralizing attacks.
CosmicBreak2 features vastly improved graphics over its predecessor, CosmicBreak which launched in 2006. Its graphics are designed to make a player familiar with the anime style feel as if they were a part of some fantastic anime.
No action game is complete without a thrilling soundtrack to accompany it. We’ve assembled a variety of exciting BGM tracks composed by world-renowned artists for use in CB2. BGM tracks will shift to match the situation, allowing you to experience heart-pumping battle themes for different situations and energetic fanfare as the tides of battle change.

A tight battle...
Wouldn't it be great if there were a theme song for your favorite character? Imagine that song being played suddenly, at the apex of a decisive battle as soon as the hero appears. Now imagine that you knew you were responsible for choosing just which hero emerges.
Victory couldn't be sweeter.
We have set a goal for making just such a Character Theme Song for one of the 3 starter girls of CosmicBreak 2. Once we have achieved a certain point in the project, we will give all backers a chance to vote for the character you'd like to have their own theme song.
Once that character has been decided, we will have one of the all-star composers working with the CosmicBreak 2 team produce it, and the song will be included in both the digital and the physical CD soundtrack.
CosmicBreak had many unique, cute, and amazing humanoid characters, each with a story and countless hours of effort from the designers aimed at bringing them personality and life. We have very fond memories of them all, and we hope that all of you feel the same.
As many of the CosmicBreak developers are involved in the CosmicBreak 2 project, we like to look at this as an opportunity to bring some of those unique characters' liveliness to CosmicBreak 2.
We will ask all backers to choose their one favorite character that they want to see in CosmicBreak 2. The character with most votes will be graphically redefined and balanced for the new game, and will become one of the characters available from the early stages of the service.
If you are not familiar with the characters of Cosmic Break, don't worry. We will give an overview of each of the characters for the purpose of voting.
and more other characters you can choose from was added!!

Closed Beta Test Access
It takes a lot of time and effort before a game can be considered ready for a commercial release, much less a beta test. Backers at this level will be able to take a sneak peek at the game and help test it before it’s released. This is an important period in development, as players will be able to explore the game’s mechanics and offer their suggestions for improvement. According to our development schedule, this special beta test period will take place in July. We look forward to being able to have you play the game and hearing your input!
Beginner Boost Pack
An assortment of goods and items for players interested in getting ahead of the competition at a discounted price! Items included in this package will allow you to level up more quickly, allowing you to devote your time to other ventures. As these items are still being developed, their official names and descriptions will be made available later, via the forums. You’ll be able to select which server (Japan/North America) you’d like your items sent to.
Accessory Part (Backer’s Flag)
The backer’s flag is a decorative accessory that will be made exclusively available to Kickstarter backers. Equip yours and hold your head high, knowing that you actively helped make CosmicBreak 2 possible. - + Either 10.00 USD worth of virtual currency on the US server, or 1,200 YEN worth of virtual currency on the JP server!
This soundtrack features the music featured in CosmicBreak 2 which we hope you’ll come to love as much as we do. This digital collection of music will be made available as a download to backers at this level.
Receive a digital copy of the CosmicBreak 2 artbook featuring all sorts of concept art, sketches, and drafts. Contains everything you see in the physical copy, but without the paper and ink and the satisfaction you get from flipping the pages yourself. It does, however, win out in both portability and resolution! Gaze upon the masterful art of Wakaba, the illustrator behind the Windows 7 image character, Madobe Nanami.
Accessory Part (Backer’s Cape)
A must-have fashion item for any galactic action hero, wearing one of these fabulous capes will certainly help you stand out in a crowd. Perhaps not as much as neon-colored full-body tights, but we think the cape is cooler. Most of us do, at least. These capes will only be available to Kickstarter backers, so be our hero and make sure you get yours today!
+ Either 20.00 USD worth of virtual currency on the US server, or 2,400 YEN worth of virtual currency on the JP server!
In the modern age, CD’s are becoming something of a rarity. The shift to digital has heralded an era of convenience but we think that the nostalgia of popping open a CD case and poring over the inserts was something worth keeping around. Backers at this level will receive CosmicBreak 2’s entire soundtrack collection and a copy of CosmicBreak 2 on a physical disk, complete with artwork you won’t find anywhere else. A must-have item for collectors.
Accessory Part (Backer’s Muffler)
The final piece in any galactic hero’s wardrobe: an extra-extra long muffler for dramatic posing during heavy winds. As a fashion accessory, it’s hard to beat. Soft and fluffy? It’s got that in spades. Going for the stoic look? No problem! Want to make even the flashiest full-body tights heroes look like side characters? Wrap one of these mufflers around your neck and you’re good to go. They’re exclusively available to our Kickstarter backers, don’t miss out!

Receive a beautiful pair of wings that are as much of a pleasure to see as they are to own. Equipping these will instantly transform even the most mundane of Cosmoloids into a majestic embodiment of charisma. Risks and challenges
Any complex project like our new game is sure to be full of risks and challenges. Will the game be completed without any huge delays? What if the game is never completed at all? These are only a few of the understandable concerns that funders might have when deciding whether or not to back our project.
Of course, many have seen games fail at the development stage when the to-do list is overloaded without consideration for the capability of the company and its work force. There are also many examples of great ideas that have gone unfulfilled due to a lack of technical expertise or administrative experience within the team. These games might finish development and begin production, but due to a failure in schedule management, the release date is postponed repeatedly, and in the worst cases, indefinitely.
We do not intend to make those mistakes. Our plan is to have as much content in the game as possible, but without extending the development schedule in order to incorporate everything at once. Instead, we plan to release the game with the most important features first, and then add new features in the form of weekly updates as the content is completed. This way everyone can start playing the game sooner and enjoy the game longer as we continue to devote ourselves to the development of new material.
As for any doubts about the game not being completed, allow us to alleviate those fears by pointing out that the promotional video shows that our game is already far more than a mere prototype. We have finished a majority of the core game mechanics, such as the physics engine, shaders, damage calculators, character animations, and the default character models. We are now focusing on adding more abilities, characters, and a variety of game modes. CyberStep has accumulated over four years of experience running CosmicBreak and GetAmped2 in many countries around the world, including North and South America, Europe, and across Asia. Our team has an idea of how to maintain a stable development schedule and successfully launch completed games in multiple regions.
Since our main goal is to put the game into your hands while building a strong relationship between developers and players, we will have both a public forum and a private forum dedicated to our awesome backers. With these communication tools we can exchange in-depth information that will help shape the final product into something spectacular and enjoyable. This is especially true of the backers' forum, in which our devs will stay connected with you, the players, ensuring that a clear picture of the game’s development progress is available.Learn about accountability on Kickstarter
