Do you have any other updates about the status of this project?
Hi everyone. Thanks for backing us. We really appreciate the interest and we've learned from the experience. You've not heard the last of Full Steam Ahead. http://www.blazinggriffin.com/blog/some-assembly-required-full-steam-ahead-kickstarter-and-beyond
I really hope that you continue with the project and come back for another kickstarter with a prototype to show the world. Hopefully then this will create the buzz needed to push it to success.
Well damn :(
Such a shame, would have liked to see this happen.
I hope they put more effort into the entirety of the Kickstarter campaign next time if they try it again.
Their website appears to be down tough, so maybe they had some kind of issue that kept them from doing anything. Here's hoping I guess.
Here's hoping we get that infamous "final push".
Shame they didn't promote this more, or even make any REAL updates. Seems to me that they gave up not soon after putting the idea out there. Real shame, as I think it could've gotten made had they advocated it more.
I'm sad we wont be seeing a new Ship :(
i agree, only 4 updates and BG has not been selling this product to people... bad timing on top of xmas and new year too... a shame really, i love steampunk
Have to agree with Mike, it seems that Blazing Griffin isn't helping their case a great deal. Which is a shame, considering the appeal of the game itself!
Well... its several things at once. Theres a lack of updates and theres hardly anything except concept art ON TOP OF the "acquired taste" of the genre. The idea wasn't sold very well. Some talk about the game, and some simple footage of the original game really doesn't make someone want to pledge.
I wish I could up my pledge, but I'm pushing it as it is. :( I'm guessing that The Ship is just one of those games that's too much of an acquired taste for the masses. I've personally never understood why it didn't take off. I think it's amazing, and am really looking forward to a sequel. I just wish that more people felt the same way.
There is still time left... you should encourage people to raise their pledge and advertise this to their friends and so on.
I just multiplied my pledge by 12.
From 1 pound to 12 pounds :) I would really like to see this happening.
I bought The Ship like week ago... I love it and I think it's the best game of it's kind / the genre. There are still plenty of players around. I would really like to see this getting funded but it does not look good :(
Correction: PC Gamer made a post on facebook that sent me to the game they were talking about.
I had known about Kickstarter in the past, but completely forgot about it until PC Gamer made a post regarding a particular project. I ended up pledging to that one, but the ONLY way I found out about this is by browsing the video game section. Looks interesting, and I hope it makes it!
Things aren't looking too hot :(
I'll up my pledge, but it wont exactly be an extra £116,000...
thanks for all the pledges!
@Ken+Tero we'll have some more articles appearing over the next couple of days and weeks!
Hello, I just found this through Steam Greenlight, and I must say it looks very promising, especially the videos were really good. I look forward to playing this game.
But I do miss a lower pledge tier that includes the soundtrack.
My favourite tier for kickstarters like this is a digital only tier that just has the game and soundtrack, and maybe some other small digital kickstarter exclusive thing (I see you have several that would work for this).
And adding £52 just to get the soundtrack is just too much for me, I'm sure you understand.
I haven't played the first game, but I saw this and I love the look of it, hope it turns out well
@Antti £12 is for the game, £16 is for the game plus 5 copies of the original ship
16£ is just too much to ask fof a game I payed less of obsidian's project eternity.
You need more attention to fund this project. Try making an AMA on reddit.com. I think you would also benefit if you'd give a lengthy interview on PC Gamer and other websites.
Just pledged 16 pounds unto this, hope it gets done!
I love the ship, I really do. I got 5 of my close friends into it and we all have a blast. For the love of god whoever is running this kickstarter has no idea what they are doing. I have not heard of The Ship: Full Steam Ahead ANYWHERE. Reddit, gaming sites, youtube-Nothing. Its like you don't want people to know about your game. What engine will you be using? What about public developer updates? Release information about your game: what makes it unique, what makes it innovative, what is it's draw to players who haven't played it? If you release qualitative information about your game and make sure it gets propagated to media resources then people will hear about it then you will get money. I've already pledged my £32, but good lord you cant expect to start a kickstarter and they will come.
Thanks for the helpful and supportive comments and we're delighted that you like the new video. We've now added a Steam Greenlight Concept page to get some further feedback on the project and you can comment on it here. http://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/…=
We've also got the videos on our YouTube channel here http://www.youtube.com/user/GriffinsEyrie
Kyle: Delivery costs are specific to the tier you want to go for. If no delivery costs are mentioned in the tier then you don't have to pay delivery costs.
I was a fan of the original and as such I'm keen to back this project. Being able to support a Scottish developer is another bonus, as well.
I am slightly concerned with the turgid movement of pledges though, although I do realise that at the time of writing there are thirty-one days to go. I hope this project makes it.
I actually was talking the other day about how much I loved the original HL1 mod, and the last game. Saw this and was literally in disbelief. First game I've funded on kickstarter and did it immediately.
Love you guys. Reallllly hope this pans out. Got my full support.
Just wonderin though: for the CRYPTO CARTOGRAPHER level, will an additional 3gbp be required to ship outside of the USA? It does NOT state that explicitly & I am mostly interested in the COLONIAL EXPLORER level. When I saw this was only an extra 2$ (1GBP; 16+3 vs 20) I made the jump.
However, if it will end up being an additional 3gbp on top of the 4gbp difference, that ends up being too big of a price jump in USD to me.
Hoping someone gets back to me regarding this cost. If I have to pay 20+3gbp (36USD) vs 16+3 (30) I'll have to settle for Colonial Explorer
All I read was The Ship, Steampunk and Scottish dev and I threw my money at you guys but then I had money on the floor so I stopped being an arse and got my credit card out.
I actually really liked the first video. The whole pitch is awesome, so was The Ship and BGT.
Only recently stumbled across the original, but love it and more than happy to pledge support for a sequel. Fingers crossed you meet the pledge target!
Good luck on the project.
The absence of the amazon payment was bit unexpected.
Just backed. Although I own both The Ship and Bloody Good Time, the first video did not convince me to pledge, it's great to see you made a better video even though many potential backers may already have decided to not check on the project again due to the unconvincing first video. I wish you good luck!
MUCH better video guys. Sincere, and includes information for current, and potential new fans. Hope the pledges increase because of it...would love to see the sequel made. Well done for taking on all the feedback from users like myself, and feel free to get in contact for any additional feedback/ideas. Best of luck!
You should make limit the 12£ pledge level for 5000 first etc.. that would give this a boost. I believe I'm not the only one who was thinking "oh, there's no limit with 12£ level, I should wait almost till the end."
But I had to back up.. 342 backers..
what's with that? :(
just a small update:
we'll have our first larger update this coming Tuesday!
there shall be a new video, images and (with a touch of luck) a whole heap of clarity coming out of the update...
@James you beat me to it today :)
@Joao will add a section in the "summary" in the update about the promo codes...
@Dan not something we can add I'm afraid
@Joey more in the update :)
@Luke thanks and gladly!!
@Carl and thank you for spreading the word!
Can we expect an update soon?
When you post an update, can you please clear up what the "CRYPTO PROMO CODE" and the "BUCCANEER PROMO CODE" include?
Hi! I backed but Where`s amazon?I`m suspicious to everything that asks my credit cart data.
I gladly gave you some of my money. I was wondering if you're still using the Source or something else. Or if you have even decided yet.
I really hope this gets funded! :D "take my money!"
Sweet. Well, you had my money from the start, now it's off to convince others. Hopefully it won't be too hard since I've already managed to merge the original The Ship game into our LAN-sessions :)
we're trying to clear the tier that had a typo in duplication of text and postage amount which is why there are 2 tiers of 16 at the moment :)
This is pure awesome, hope it works out well. I am a litte curious though. Does the £16 mark include two copies of the game? It is a bit confusing also that there are two £16 tiers.
comments are being addressed as we speak!! there shall be a much clearer message coming next week and with a touch of luck we'll dash all fears...
The Ship was an amazing idea ahead of its time...
I really, REALLY hope this happens - I am backing purely as a fan of the original, I'd give you the full £128k if I had it, just to get my favourite game remade...
I would like to add a +1 to Matel's concern about the pitch, it's genius - but a second one highlighting what The Ship FSA is all about could only be beneficial, especially if done in a similar manner.
GOOD LUCK! I NEED THIS IN MY LIFE!
Good luck to you fellow steampunk-eers!
SHUT UP AND TAKE MY MONEY
Steamworks is DRM. It's also an optional component of games distributed on Steam. If developers don't use it, Steam acts only as a downloader, patcher and entirely optional launcher. You can also just go directly to the download folder and launch from there, without any reliance on Steam.
Not saying that having both a DRM-free and Steam-free option isn't good, by any means. Just that the two aren't the same thing.
As someone who's fascinated by this game space but is let down by either Bloody Good Time's tiny player community or the AC series' UbiDRM and awful matchmaking, I want to support this effort. I have to agree, though, this KS doesn't seem like it's explaining the gameplay very well to people who don't know it.
Hi guys! Bloody good idea to bring this to KS!
I do feel the need to second what some of the previous commenters were saying: for someone who hasn't heard of The Ship or doesn't know what it's about, the whole pitch doesn't make sense, the only thing sounding familiar being "steampunk". I'm not just assuming here. I know someone said, and I quote, "The pitch video made me laugh, very well made. Too bad it doesnt say anything about the game whatsoever. ". After he found out about The Ship from The Ship's Wikipedia article, his answer was, quote, "I doubt they can get 128k pounds just from people who know this game. But I hope they prove me wrong, I read about the concept and it's awesome. " You urgently need to do something about this.
I also second the question about Linux support and I bring forward the other classic KS question: "Is there going to be a DRM-free version? And I'm not talking 'available on Steam', because Steam is DRM."
@Dennis thanks for the support!
@ Valvar it is definitely on the cards but probably not out of the starting blocks for the initial £128k
Hi, really happy about this project. Any word on Linux support? If so, then I would be happy to back £128...
