Behind schedule, but progressing well
TLDR; I'm behind schedule, all backers will have a new demo to play very soon, Early Access release on Steam - end of June. I'm still committed to releasing everything promised in the Kickstarter a.s.a.p. Sorry for the delay.
Project update
I'm sorry to say that I'm running well behind schedule despite working on the project full time and working as hard as I can.
The main reason is due to my naivety resulting from this being my first game. I felt confident setting out due to the fact that I already had the main gameplay mechanics working and a lengthy prototype. However, I've found it very time consuming getting the game to a state I'm happy to release. I've also been through some painful refactoring to make the code easier to manage between the Oculus and HTC headsets. It feels like things are coming together now and progress is speeding up.
The plan
- 1st week in June - release a two level demo to all backers that is more representative of the final product.
- End of June - release an Early Access version on Steam and send keys to all backers. If you don't have Steam, I'll provide a direct download link.
- Further private releases will still be sent to Kickstarter backers with Early Access or greater reward levels.
- I'll regularly update the Early Access version on Steam until all the Kickstarter goals have been met (minimum 13 levels + hidden easter-eggs)
What's new in the upcoming demo
More droids - the chambers needed to feel more alive. You'll now find swarms of tiny maintenance bots and cleaner droids going about their business.
Microphone utilisation - all droids will hear your voice and may react differently if you talk or shout. You'll also find voice sensors that react to you. The responses are simple for now but may be extended depending on feedback.
More detail - while still keeping it fairly simple, I'm trying to populate the world with interesting features and movement to make the world feel more active.
Narrative - the plot has been completed for the full game. The upcoming demo will introduce you to the story line. You'll need to search for a hidden location to learn more, but I think I've made it easy for you.
More audio - the game now includes more atmospheric and environmental sounds.
I've also been introducing changes based on feedback from Kickstarter backers. Changes include: fading the floor grid when it goes over the edge of a drop, improving HTC Vive FPS controls, getting rid of the sparkles that showed the teleport destination (they blocked your view) to name a few. Thanks to the people who gave feedback - more changes based on your feedback will be introduced later.
Thank you for your patience
Please understand that I'm trying to deliver the best game I can rather than just rush it out. Hopefully you will enjoy the game more and want to play it all the way through.

Thanks for the update. I don't mind delays when it leads to a better end product. Seems like you are doing great progress. Looking forward to try it:)

Thanks for the update. I finally have a CV1 now, so I look forward to give the new demo a spin on the new headset.
