Will Lawton & Weasel Howlett started collaborating musically in 2015 and have spent the last year recording an album titled 'Fossils Of The Mind'. They have funded the recording of this album through live performances and have had the immense pleasure of recording the music at Real World Studios in Wiltshire, England. The album has been mixed over the summer by Charlie Grimsdale. The music is now ready to go.
A vinyl record is a beautiful thing, and the 12” sleeve that houses it gives the opportunity to create a piece of art that you can hold, examin, and consider while you listen to the music. You can’t do that with an mp3. Due to this, the on-going revival in vinyl records, and Weasel's opinion that it's the superior format :) , the duo have decided to release this album on vinyl and are running this crowd funding campaign in order to meet the outlay of the record pressing costs.
The vinyl bundle pack gives you every format in one hit. A double gatefold LP, CD insert and digital download code. There are ten original songs on the album as follows: Fossils Of The Mind, Altantic-O, Dharma, Golden Ratio, Hope, Panacea, Peace, Release, Sleep and Step Nine.
If everything goes to plan then the album should be spinning on the turntables of households by January 2018. The duo are planning a UK tour in early 2018 to promote this album and which will include an album release night at The Pound Arts Centre in Corsham, Wiltshire on Saturday 27th January 2018 - VIP tickets for this can be booked through this pledge.
Big thank you to Rupert Barker for all the photography on this site and to Pete from Tipi Productions for the music video.
Risks and challenges
The music has already been recorded and mixed. The artwork is currently being designed. ALL we need help with is the initial outlay for the pressing of vinyl and packaging of the music.
Therefore there are no risks to you as the backer. If we get the funding, you get the lovely music we have promised to you. The risk to us is that this campaign could not reach it's target. We have put so much passion into creating this music it seems right to make its release a beautiful thing to cherish. If we don’t reach the target then we will stick to a digital release only at this stage which would be a great shame. We will tour the UK as planned during 2018 and will raise funds to get the album pressed onto vinyl through our live work, in the same way that we funded our recording costs. This could take another year so make a pledge and help us get this album into your hands.Learn about accountability on Kickstarter
