"Perfect gift for the holiday season"
"One shape infinite possibilities"
Why Snow Link:
The worse part of growing up is losing our sense of wonder and imagination We trade classrooms for offices, recess for bars, and toys for TVs. The spark now dulled, replaced by the monotony of adult life. When we were little we could simply sprawl out on the floor with our toys, but can't now.
Or can we? Try something a little different, with Snow Link.
What is it:
Snowlink is a acrylic snowflake shape that interlocks with each other without glue. A laser-cut fit allows the pieces to be put together and taken apart with ease, offering the owner limitless creative possibilities and no mess. With a sleek, customizable design, the Snowlink pieces come in sets of 17 or 40, and can make the perfect gift.
It all started as a prototype for Doug Liang’s senior thesis. It was an interactive playground that kids could customize. (Link)
We need your help:
With limited resources, manufacturing and start-up costs, we’re asking for help. We’ll be manufacturing each individual Snow Link ourselves requiring the 80 Walt Hurricane Laser cutting machine from San Diego Makers place. We will need funding for sheets of cast acrylic and shop space. Check out the video of how individual pieces are printed!
The only limit, is your imagination. So take the challenge. What can you create?
Risks and challenges
Risks and challenges
To ensure a perfect fit between Snow Links, we changed our acrylic suppliers numerous times until we found the best one. The challenge with cast acrylic was variances in sheet thickness causing overly loose or tight connections. Before being packed, each Snow Link is visually tested and inspected.
On another note, should you contribute to this campaign, we will make sure you receive your package before Christmas 25th. Borrowing money from friends and family we have started the pre-production process to ensure our backers get their Snow Links on time .
