TesserAct is a story driven, first person physics-based platformer. The game follows Sam, a young girl who was adopted at a young age and a current college student. Sam finds herself waking up inside the Heywood Bowman Facility, a highly advanced research facility, located on the Jovian moon Europa. The facility is abandoned, and seems to be falling apart. Sam soon acquires the Catalyst, a device created by the Heywood Bowman Facility that can merge parallel universes. This allows users freeze objects in mid air, run on water, and much more!
The Tech behind the Ice
TesserAct is built off the magnificent Unreal Development Kit, powered by Unreal Engine 3. This let us go crazy with graphics, such as magnificent light shafts from the sun, dynamic fluid surfaces, real-time reflective water, all of which give us that awesome atmosphere we wanted to achieve!
Smile! Facial animation
The UDK has also given us awesome tools such as FaceFX, allowing us to give our characters realistic facial animation!
Kinect Motion Capture
We are using a Kinect from the Xbox 360 to serve as our motion capture system for our animations! Those epic little ball-covered suits are a bit out of our price range, so after tinkering a bit we've got a system in place to capture motion and apply it to our character models in game!
TesserAct's original soundtrack is written by Stuart Tow and electronic artist "a beagle." The soundtrack is included with the special edition of TesserAct!
Anytime a big update is finished, we update the demo on our website! This includes bug fixes, updated aesthetics, updated audio work, and even redesigns of the gun mechanics!
The Nerd Herd
Propelled Bird Software was started in 2011 when a group of friends sat around a lunch table in small town Holbrook, Arizona, and the the idea to make a game arose. Ideas floated about and after a solid hour of opinions, they decided to take the challenge. For the next month, we spent our afternoons huddled in the back room of our high school's Audio/Visual department, working furiously on whiteboards tweaking and reworking the ideas we had. After a few months, the concept for TesserAct was born.
The team currently is comprised of:

Why should I help?
We are building TesserAct with the hope that we can prove Indie developers can make awesome titles with AAA quality. With your help, we can push that movement forward.
Making a game takes a lot of money, even if you're not a huge AAA company. The funds through this campaign will be used to better the tools we use, better the means of distributing the game when we finish, handling those pesky business costs, and polishing your experience playing it!

Risks and challenges
TesserAct is our first title, so much of what we do we've learned on the fly. This can put us into unexpected binds that can hinder development. However, the past two years of work have allowed us to prepare for the unexpected, and the biggest learning milestones have been reached! The game is only reliant now on funding.Learn about accountability on Kickstarter
