About this project
Weird Folk is told in 4 chapters: A teen makes a terrifying discovery on the dark web, a clown stalks a neighborhood, a chiropractor goes through his worst nightmare, and a couple finds themselves in the crosshairs of a killer.
The story is centered on teen Howie Oden who finds out there's a hit on his step-dad on the dark web. When Howie scours the neighborhood for him, he encounters scary clowns, bullies, strange visitors, and dead bodies.
Although Weird Folk takes place on election night 2016, it's not solely about the election and the hysteria associated with it. It's about the horror that humans can inflict on one another. It is about the ugly monster inside us all. We show all sides of the political spectrum and do not skew in any one direction. More importantly, this story is extremely entertaining and will give you some laughs and some chills. Election 2016 was an anomaly and the events that take place in this movie are as well.

Every dollar you pledge will be stretched to the max so we can make the best possible film we can. Even the smallest pledges can add up to make a huge difference in helping bring our artistic vision to life...whether that means giving us the opportunity to hire more hands, get more special effects, or incorporate actual election 2016 coverage from news/media publications.
Also, while reaching our goal gets the movie made, every bit of funding above that number broadens our realm of possibility -- it gives us more choices, more creative freedom, and ultimately, it allows us to create a higher quality product for you to enjoy!
Please note that our actual budget may (and probably will) vary from the above graphic based on the amount of money we raise.
HERE'S A GRAPH THAT PUT THINGS INTO PERSPECTIVE:

We will immediately dive into pre-production to finalize cast, locations, and get additional crew members during June and July. We also love rehearsing with our cast like it's a play so we'll squeeze in some sessions. We'll begin filming in August 2017 on a 10-day shoot schedule with 2 additional pick up days. It's a tight schedule, but we shot our last film in 6 days so we are used to the hustle. We're shooting on a 4k camera that does well in low-light to guarantee high quality HD footage. Our core team has worked together before, so we're a well-oiled machine.
All updates and announcements will be made on our Facebook/Twitter/Instagram accounts @WeirdFolkMovie. Follow us!

Risks and challenges
The minimum goal of $47,000 is to raise our production budget. If we reach that goal we have a few stretch goals to take us through post-production and through our deliverables/festival phases. There is a possible investor for our project, but it is too early to rely on that.
In the event that we only reach the production budget goal, we have a back up plan to edit the film and take a rough cut of it to investors to finance post-production. Through our filmmaking experience and recent connections we have made, we are confident that Weird Folk will be a high quality and entertaining film - and made on schedule.
We will keep everyone up to date through production, post-production, and distribution phases of Weird Folk.Learn about accountability on Kickstarter
