As a member of Central Michigan University’s Chamber Singers, the top vocal ensemble at CMU, I have the privilege of performing at Carnegie Hall this coming May. Chamber Singers has been selected to sing both Haydn’s Creation and open the concert with just our ensemble, under the baton of the renowned conductor Dr. Nina Nash-Robertson. This is a once in a lifetime opportunity, but I am in need of some assistance.
I am currently in my fourth year of study at CMU, and third year singing with the Chamber Singers. I am a full-time student, working part-time in the Music Library, and I am active in the theater department with musicals and acting for directing classes. The trip comes to a total of roughly $1,200 dollars, as member of Chamber Singers I received a $500 credit to my bill, but since I am paying the rest out of my own pocket, I am finding myself coming up short, while trying to support myself outside of this opportunity.
Singing at Carnegie Hall has been a dream of mine for many years now, and any donation you may be able to give will be greatly appreciated. I am not asking for you to fund my entire trip, I am asking for any help that you may able to give to help make this dream a reality for me.
If you are interested in hearing the Chamber Singers perform, we will be holding concerts on Sunday February 24 at 5pm, and April 21 at 2pm. Both of these concerts will feature songs that we will be performing in our opening portion of the concert in Carnegie Hall.
If I receive well over my initial goal, I plan to donate some to others in our group who might also be having difficulties funding the trip.
Risks and challenges
From a musical standpoint: preparing the music along with the rest of our choir. Putting together a performance like this is no easy task, and we all have to be on the top of our game.
From an academic standpoint: keeping myself rested and alert so I can keep up in classes while preparing musically for this performance. But I'm proud that I have above a 3.0 grade point average, and I intend to keep it that way.Learn about accountability on Kickstarter
