Hey all, so pleased we could add this. We have a number of "celebrity" customers and we've approached them all for testimonial support on this project but invariably hear back about contractual issues. But Rona Elliot didn't even hesitate to say yes. Not sure who Rona is? The pics on the wall behind her are great clues - Rona was huge in LA's 70's rock scene and went on to become The Today Show's longtime music correspondent logging interviews with U2, the Stones, you name it.
Denise and Chris order our breads online and we ship to their home in New Jersey. They placed an order for 12 loaves just before Sandy struck. We delayed shipment and once they lost power then they drove here to Bloomsburg to retrieve their bread and bide their time. When asked why they like our bread so much, here's what they told us.
Shawn Kheys and his wife Naomi run Namaste Cafe here in Bloomsburg. And they do it right. Just about every restaurant around trucks their "food-stuff" in from SysCo but not these guys. They buy local organic period and everything they serve is done with such pride and commitment to quality and wow, does it make a difference.
We practically invented our pita bread for them and they buy use tons of it in their vegan restaurant. Shawn talks about why he orders our bread and granola.
At Columbia County Bread & Granola we adhere to the truth of an ancient Korean proverb that says, "After the Mountains, More Mountains." Which is to say our mission is to embrace challenge, make discoveries, share our knowledge then continue on our path.
This is what has guided us and enabled us to make two profoundly great products, 100% sprouted whole grain breads and our unique flax granola.
Our sprouted whole-grain breads are not only light in texture, appetizing and delicious, we believe they are the healthiest, purest expression of what bread can and should be and represent the future of bread because we have adhered to the lessons of the past (pre-industrial cultures all knew that you do NOT eat grain unless it is first sprouted). Therefore, we make our sprouted breads without flour (a euphemism for wheat starch). We do not add vital wheat gluten (something most sprouted bakers feel they must add), nor do we add any dough enhancers. Our starters are naturally derived, carefully nurtured leavens (a unique 100% sprouted sourdough starter).
Our other product is a unique flax-based granola made without oats, honey, salt or added sugars, and yet, it has become our biggest success story with thousands of devoted fans who have told us time again how addictive it is and how it has helped them with a number of dietary and health related issues.
And now, we are faced with the prospect of a huge increase in demand for our products and that means we must expand. New equipment, new bakers, more space.
As such, we are offering a number of unique variations on our two product innovations as incentives for our funders. These products are not available for purchase from our website store. Further, we are offering opportunities to join us in baking workshops in our kitchen or, in yours, so you can learn our process and do what we do in your home.
Please look over our kickstarter campaign, consider funding us, tell your friends and, if you have any questions at all, don't hesitate to visit our website, ColumbiaCountyBread.com or, contact me, Doug at Baker@ColumbiaCountyBread.com.
Thanks so very much.
Risks and challenges
In any new venture there are unforeseen problems that can cause delays, however, we feel strongly that new ovens and new bakers will help us not only build capacity but fulfill orders in a timely fashion.

More importantly, we have already tested all the recipes described here so we don't anticipate any need to withdrawal or modify offers.
Furthermore, our kitchen is fully certified and we have electrical capacity to install new equipment and the full support of the board of directors for the building we work in. We also have important support from professionals who are guiding us through the potential tangles an expanding business is likely to encounter.
