Thanks to all your support, we made it to 100% so that means it's time for ...
$4,000: Document the making of "Present Tense," following the process from pre-production all the way through post! We'll put these behind the scene videos online and also include them as a feature on the "Present Tense" DVD!
$4,500: We'll be able to get one more half-day of shooting in, allowing us to shoot a special, after-the-credits ending!
Read about "Present Tense" on Gawker's io9 blog!
In the near future, the present becomes ... the past.
Truer words have literally never been spoken. Okay, maybe there's something that's been said that has been truer, but, still, I'd put that quote in the top 5 of truerieness.
So, what happens when that near future comes back to the present (which is the past for that near future - stay with me) to prevent the present from causing stuff to happen in the future? Confusion!
In our short, Present Tense, Alex becomes the victim of such confusion on his wedding day. Alex is at the altar, nerves and performance anxiety shaving years off his lifespan, when, BOOM! A brilliant flash of light! Alex 2.0 (not trying to be 2005 trendy here, it's just easier to tag the multiple Alex's that way) appears from the future to stop the wedding. Soon, there's a bunch of Alex's - including Alex 11.0 - all with their opinion of the nuptials. Then, the people sitting in the pews start revealing their true nature and affiliations, and, of course, a laser battle ensues.
Laser battles, time travel and weddings are expensive.
Yet another truism, and, because of this fact of life, we need your help! Who are we? We're Skinny Bones! 'nuff said!
Okay, well, here's some more stuff: Skinny Bones Productions was born on a small cactus farm in the deserts of Tucson, Arizona in 2004. SBP spent its youth like all young companies, riding horses, playing stickball, and making a 100%-indie feature film (On the Cutting Room Floor (2006)). Like all rambunctious kids, by the age of four, it had a mortgage and a family to support, so it took on a slew of projects, from web series to shorts (some long and some really short).
Backing a project based on a synopsis and a promise of hilarity and action is a tough call to make, so we've put together a bunch of great rewards that will make the decision a lot easier! We have everything from letting you see Present Tense before the rest of the world does, to getting your hands on the script (which includes the alternate, "Jesus" ending) to getting the original storyboard pencils done by artist Per Berg! There are some really great rewards here, and I promise I'll keep the SBP team away from them until all of you have a chance to call dibs!
Thank you so much for taking the time to check this out and I hope you support us and spread the word!
