Bannerless Builds is the result of years of passion and study by our lead designer, Gregory Bowes, a lifetime gamer who studied theatre set design in university and worked with Shakespeare in the Park productions in Montreal.
Greg needed a solution for how much space the terrain collection he’d built over the years needed, and how long it took to set up. Inspiration came from an unlikely source; in his own words, “One night I was watching Blazing Saddles and the scene where they recreate the town near the end made a lot of sense to me, in that they had to do it quickly. At that point it all just clicked in my head.”
By applying his theatre experience to the tabletop, Greg was able to minimize the footprint of his scenery while sustaining his love for 3D terrain. As Greg puts it, “I fell in love with 3D gaming when I owned my own game store and used to play wargames with customers. I tend to think more creatively in 3D, one example was in a recent game when the bad guy was escaping from us, up some stairs while his minions kept us at bay. As the mage I blasted the stairs apart under him, causing him to fall.”
This Kickstarter campaign is to bring you the first wave of Facades, Scenery and Terrain from Bannerless builds!
You asked for it, You got! Stress tests on the Facades! Greg is joined by Know Direction Podcast's Ryan Costello to see how much these facades can take!
Now, with that all out of the way, let's check out how you can get some of the aforementioned Fantasy Facades:
Sounds cool right? What makes it even better is that through PledgeManager, you're able to Add-On any item you like! Such as:
Just add the Kickstarter Price amount of the item(s) you want to your pledge! (please note the shipping cost per item!)
(Please Note: Shown are a painted and unpainted version of each item. With the exception of "packs," you will receive one (1) unpainted item for each item purchased.)
And that's not even close to everything! We plan to unlock new items as we pass funding goals! We've got a ton of stuff on deck:
Here's what people are saying about Fantasy Facades by Bannerless Builds:
"I’m in love with this concept, and the execution matches the dream. Easy to store, easy to set up and manage, and easy to make your own. I can reach over the screen and set up a simple street in seconds, or pre-build a whole area in minutes. One box at the side of the table, and I know I can keep up with whatever my players decide to do, and one afternoon behind a brush, and I can customize the feel of the façade to my campaign."

Instead of an extensive survey at the conclusion of this campaign, backers will receive a PledgeManager link. PledgeManager is a crowdfunding service that helps manage campaigns with a lot of add-ons, such as this one. When you back Fantasy Facades by Bannerless Builds, enter an amount equal to the total cost of your backer level plus all your add-ons. This amount will be converted into PledgeManager credits at the conclusion of the campaign.
You will be able to purchase additional add-ons using PledgeManager, but be aware: the amount you pledge for these add-ons after the campaign will not contribute to unlocking stretch goals. If you intend to purchase add-ons, it is in every backer’s best interest for you to pledge the total amount before the end of the campaign.
Shipping for this campaign was always going to be an issue. Being an add-on-heavy Kickstarter, it's impossible for us to be able to calculate all the combinations and different shipping costs for all the different items to every corner of the world.
So what we've done is listed an estimate shipping price for Canada, US, and International backers next to each item. Add that much on and you should be covered. Please note, these are just estimates and may vary by a bit here and there.
In PledgeManager, we are able to set a weight and corresponding shipping to each item in the Fantasy Facades campaign. So, when you log into PledgeManager, you'll see your total pledge as credit. You'll load up your cart with the items you want and then then shipping will be included in that total.
Risks and challenges
All products pictured are beyond the design phase at this point. Even if our designer suffers a terrible accident that prevents him from ever creating another new product (which we obviously hope does not happen), the products either exist as production-ready moulds or hand-made items that moulds can be made from. Production is handled in our Montreal warehouse, meaning the only hands that handle your order between pre-production and shipping are under our direct control.
Our schedule includes enough lead time to contend for common issues. However, if the campaign overfunds beyond our expectations, we will need to create additional moulds and increase production. If we succeed beyond what we are prepared for, there may be some delays in delivery. Our production process allows us to prepare and deliver in batches before the whole order is complete, so in the event of delays in delivery, we will be delivering orders based on when they were placed, starting with the oldest orders. Otherwise, major delays should only be expected as a result of catastrophic events.Learn about accountability on Kickstarter
