First off, thank you. For reading this and for considering throwing your support behind something you love, even if it is not this particular project. Thank you.
I want to make films that matter.
Storyline:
Abe is not your typical company man looking for adventure on a distant planet. He is simply trying to provide for his family back on Earth. He works for RAPTOR ENERGY, a company developing a new but troubling "clean" energy source. When a rogue group of vendetta-seeking guerrillas launch a devastating series of hit and run attacks on RAPTOR's facilities, Abe and his Scottish co-worker find themselves stranded deep in the wilderness of an alien world with nothing more than a small cache of antiquated Vietnam War era gear. After being tracked by mysterious tribesman and hunted by giant man-eating insects, their only hope is a US run emergency evacuation program. But when the US government reveals that it has run out of money, their last hopes for survival seem lost. As the rebel's noose around RAPTOR ENERGY draws tighter and the plague of flying insects swarm, a secret is revealed that could make all the difference.
This is a sci-fi drama featuring plastic army men and living 13 year periodical cicadas. It is not only beautiful to look at, shot mostly with a 100mm macro lense, but also deals with timely issues such as family separation, the careless abuse of the natural world and individuals taking a stand against injustice.
Project Goals:
Brood XIX will be a series of seven short episodes. They will be released weekly for free on our website beginning in the fall. After all seven episodes are released I will cut them down into a "short film" for submission into festivals.
Current Status:
Over half of the project is already shot. Through the help of a small group of generous actors and musicians I am hammering out dialogue, music and sound FX.
Nitty Gritty:
I have privately funded this project up until this point. The funding I receive from you will go toward recouping some of those expenses as well as toward editing and post production. If I exceed my goal of 4,000 the rest of the money will go toward festival entree fees and expenses as well as more incredible props for the movie. (Some of which will be blown up in slow motion!!!!!)
The Future:
This is my premier project, but I a plan to continue making movies. I have several feature scripts ready to go as well as a pool of other ideas (that do not involve miniatures). I needed a project with which to start small and this is it. I thank you with true sincerity of heart and am looking forward to having you along for the ride. It's going to be fun!
