6 x 6 (six by six) is a creative writing, music and arts collective that was founded in 2011 by Gloria Munoz and Alan Shaw. With a mission to celebrate Tampa Bay's local arts scene, 6 x 6 hosts bi-monthly readings that promote poetry, fiction and non-fiction writers in all stages of their careers. In celebration of Poetry Appreciation Month and Jazz Appreciation Month, both in April 2012, we are hoping to stage an artistic event far grander than any we have in the past. PAM meets JAM will be a night where poetry meets jazz and visual art meets improvisation. This fusion of creative writing, art and music, fueled solely by local artists, aims to be a vibrant expression of what the greater Tampa Bay arts scene has to offer: a mighty, full-throated shout of caprice, pathos, beauty, and originality.
We need your help because we are planning an event more ambitious than any we have ever staged before. Local musicians, visual and performance artists, poets and writers, culinary mad scientists, and spoken word wizards will all be in attendance, and this night will offer them a celebrative space to create, share, and revel. PAM meets JAM is not only meant commemorate poetry and jazz and their great contribution to art, it is also meant to remind people of the power all art has to move the human spirit to dream bigger, fly further, sing louder, dance wilder and to always, always keep making art that enhances our human experience.
Please know that your pledge will help us strengthen the Tampa Bay arts community, make history and create really good art.
