Human Combat Chess is a theatrical event presented as an unscripted combat sporting spectacular. What does this mean exactly? Think professional wrestling, but better, because instead of taking athletes and trying to make them act, we take actor-athletes and make them fight with everything from swords and shields to feet and fists.
The annual Midwest Combat Chess League championships have been held by Six Elements Theatre every summer since 2011. As our fan base grows, we constantly strive to stage more exciting and innovative performances for our audiences. This year, we hope to make Human Combat Chess that much more heart-stoppingly awesome!
Here's where you come in: it is time for Human Combat Chess to expand. If we raise the hoped-for $1500 we will be able to improve our performance space, providing our audiences a more immersive experience. With better equipment we can also improve our staging, allowing our actor-combatants to perform a wider variety of combat forms with more complex choreography. This will all help to create a show unrivaled by what audiences have seen before.
UPDATE 2/3/14: as we near our original goal so earlier in the month, it's time to consider stretch goals. $2500 - we can optimize our HCC in-world podcast, Board and Swords, as well as provide a HCC logo button to all donors at $10 and above.
UPDATE 2/7/14: Second stretch goal at $3500 is a 2015 Human Combat Chess Calendar available at cost to our donors at $10 and above.
But we need your donations to make this happen. You may be thinking, "Well what’s in it for me?" In addition to the satisfaction of knowing you’ve helped to create something unique, all of our donor rewards give you a piece of the HCC world, allowing you to become a part of this exciting experience. Thank you for your consideration.

Risks and challenges
As with any theatre project, the show must go on. HCC will return for a triumphant 2014 season, but any project with this many people and weapons could run into a snag that would diminish the final product.
Our production staff is in place and we have a terrific talent pool to draw from for our combatants, so there is very little chance that the show will need to be cancelled. The worst case scenario, should an unforeseen and insurmountable obstacle present itself, is that the show will return to its previous venue or be modified to include fewer fights and less technical production.
However, we are confident that with your help we will be able to produce this show on the level that it deserves and that our growing audience has begun to demand.
