"Don't worry, my grappling hook will bite it."

UPDATE: All DELRIN, STAINLESS STEEL, AND TITANIUM rewards come with a Cross Hook. Thanks for making this happen!!!
This is not your typical project. Your feedback adds to the design and function. It's coming to life because of your support. THANK YOU!
We carry a lot of different things. Sometimes we drop them. Instead of leaving them out of reach, get your grappling hook!
The Gravity Hook is a cross between a mechanical claw and grappling hook. When it touches down gravity pushes the jaws open. Lifting it closes the jaws around your prize.
I've been working with the design and now I need your support to make it out of Stainless Steel. With your backing I'll fine tune, laser cut, finish, and get it shipped to your front door. Now we can laugh at all the quarters we've lost in claw machines!

What makes it high performance?
- Can be used just as a 2 pronged hook.
- "Bites" objects that might slip out of a grapnel.
- Installing the Cross Hook makes it a 4 pronged grappling hook.
- Compact enough to be stowed on a back pack strap.
- Can be dismantled for more compact storage.

Why we need your support.
We want to make this as awesome as possible. Some ideas I have in the works include: creating a magnetic attachment, designing a secondary purpose for the cross hook, and producing an extra large version. Each prototype has a cost and we'll go through a few before we're done.

Who we are.
Two years ago I created Fish Bone Knotless Gear Tie. Thanks to backer feedback, we (my brother Eldrick and I) went on to present other projects like Piranha, Neo Web, and Diesel Fish (see all our projects our profile). Since then we've learned more and more from our backers, perfect strangers, and everyone in between. Our passion is in making cool outdoor gear.

The original prototype was made with basic hand tools. After that I took it to AutoCad and drew up a design.

There is more to it then you see at first glance. Since the parts interact with each other clearances have to be kept without losing function. Also, since the assembly is symmetrical, making curves flow with overlapping parts took time. With your support the stainless steel version will be cut with a 4000 watt laser and stone washed. I can't wait to show it to you.
THANK YOU!
Risks and challenges
Your opinion matters to us. There are design points we want to test and finalize. Right now this is where we're at. As this project moves along we’ll ask you what you think. We’ll take your input and make design changes to accommodate our backer’s general preference. That being said we won’t be able to please everyone 100% of the time. There won’t be any radical changes, but the final product may have modifications when all is said and done. Any changes are intended to improve what arrives at your doorstep.
This is our sixth project. We've learned a ton since. Material availability could be a challenge. The larger an order the longer the lead time can be. Another challenge is large scale manufacturing. If we get to the point where we need help fabricating, finding that help will take time. We've had experiences where folks tell us they can do a certain service but then find out it was past their capability. As of now this is what were expecting.
