Look! Up on the stage! It's a Bard! It's a play! It's. . . SUPERMAN!
Hawkeye Plainview productions is raising the appropriate funds for our production of the world premiere of Super-Wellesian by Rory Jobst at this year's Chicago Fringe Festival.
In Superman issue #62, legendary filmmaker Orson Welles appears as himself who with the help of the Man of Steel takes down a ruthless army of Martian Fascists. This play Super-Wellesian reconnects these two characters to record a radio drama version of these events. Much to Welles' dismay, good acting is not one of Superman's powers and he finds that conquering Martians may not be his biggest challenge after all.
This production will be directed by Christopher Marcum, starring Marcum himself as Orson Welles, David Coupe as Superman, Natalie DiCristofano as Lois Lane, Kevin Crispin as Martian actor Clark Marble, and Linsey Falls as Superman announcer Jackson Beck.
The show runs for three performances:
Mon 9/1 @ 8:30 pm
Thurs 9/4 @ 10 pm
Sat 9/6 @ 7pm
We are currently looking to raise funds for our production budget, which includes rehearsal space, promotional materials, marketing, costumes, props, and actors' stipends. This is a very special piece to all of our hearts combining our diverse passions of film, comic books, radio, and theater, and no amount is too large or too small to help make our dreams come true.
The more resources we have, the more special we can make this production. Your help is greatly appreciated.
Risks and challenges
We are currently a small itinerant theater company operating shortly after our inception. We often face challenges of booking rehearsal spaces to fit everyone's schedule as well as gathering all the appropriate props and costumes without a full design team. However, we thrive in always moving forward, and have always convinced our talented friends and family to lend a momentary hand if necessary.Learn about accountability on Kickstarter
