Small HDMI screens are expensive. Native HD ones are astronomical. We want to drive the price down "Raspberry Pi" style.

Surveys, Video, LCD Ordering

Surveys Are Go

We're about to pull the trigger on the surveys. By the end of the weekend, all the surveys will have been sent out. The process is a bit laborious as each category has to be done separately from scratch. There is no "copy" function, so lots of cutting and pasting to do. :(

Alex Holiday

Next week, Alex will be away with no computer for the first time in years. This means he won't be able to answer your comments and questions as quickly as usual (not until he gets back).

Driver Board Rev 3 Being Worked On

We haven't got the finished item yet, but the iteration 3 driver board is being worked on. We're hoping to have it soon, so we can go to production.

Video of BitScope with HDMIPi

At the beginning of this week, Alex published a review of an interesting new USB oscilloscope that works on the Pi. It's called BitScope, and the video features the most recent (version 2) HDMIPi prototype being used with a Pi to make a portable oscilloscope.

LCDs Being Ordered Imminently

Dave is poised to order the LCDs after the weekend. If anyone you know is wavering, now would be a good time to pre-order if they want to get in on the first wave of production. We won't be massively over-ordering speculatively.

UNICEF

We are also delighted to announce that UNICEF Lebanon is very interested in using HDMIPi in a project they are running to help educate displaced Syrian children. Alex will be blogging about this next week.

That's about it for now. We wish you a happy weekend.

      International customer

      +1 on Bogdan Sladaru comment:
      from a Canadian customer.
I do hope it will not be UPS or FEDEX...(brokerage fees are terrible)
Royal is my favorite (delivered by Canada post in canada)

      Hello,
Judging by the "add ... to ship outside the UK"
what service will you use? Royal Mail, Royal Mail signed for, couriers, others?
      Thanks!

@janotterstetter If i'm correct it will be sent from the UK, so normally it should reach you without going trough customs.

      Hi Alex,

glad to hear shipping will start soon :-)

When you ship please attach the invoice in a way that especially German customs can reach it from outside the package to check it.

      Thanks in advance
      All the Best

Will you be offering Australian power supplies? I notice there's no option in the survey for it, but I'd thought you mentioned it previously.

@Walter Because it's expensive and inferior, we pretty much forgot about resistive touch. Unless someone in the community would take over getting the drivers into the Kernel, it would be just too much effort for zero return. We didn't actually, at any point, say. "Forget about touch", it just kind of happened.

I dare say we could put you in touch with the source of the resistive touch panel. Will have to ask Dave about that. Maybe Dave would even sell you one. (I think we had 1 or 2.)

      Hello,

Judging by the "add ... to ship outside the UK", I assume you'll send the packages from UK, can you confirm that? If you send them from China, for example, I'd have to use another address.
Also, what service will you use? Royal Mail, Royal Mail signed for, couriers, others?
      Thanks!
