New Project - RasPiO InsPiring. Connect RGB LED shapes, sculpt your lights

Dear HDMIPi backers.

I hope you are enjoying your HDMIPi.

I'm writing to let you know that I've launched a new KickStarter project. It's called RasPiO Inspiring. It's a bit larger than my last few projects.

RasPiO Inspiring is a system of programmable RGB LED shapes that can fit together in a modular way to make whatever shape you want – either 2D or 3D. It can be controlled by Raspberry Pi, Arduino, ESP8266, ATtiny, Microbit and pretty much any other microcontroller.

Please come and check out RasPiO Inspiring. It's a lot of fun.

New KS Project - RasPiO GPIO Ruler - heads-up for HDMIPi backers

New RasPiO GPIO Ruler

Dear HDMIPi backers. Today's exciting news is that I've just launched a KickStarter project for a brand new potential product. It's called the RasPiO GPIO ruler. It looks like this...

RasPiO GPIO Ruler
RasPiO GPIO Ruler

It's a handy RPi.GPIO quick reference, port label guide and ruler all in one. I'm always having to look up the RPi.GPIO commands, so I really wanted something like this. It's ideal for GPIO hacking in Python on the Pi.

Please come and check out the RasPiO GPIO ruler. The early-birds will snag a real bargain. I'm giving you HDMIPi backers a better than average chance of snagging an early-bird by sending this email out just after launching. Here's a link to the campaign. Please come and back...

Thank you and have a great week

Open Sourcing HDMIPi case + RasPiO Duino final call

Open Sourcing HDMIPi Case Cut Files

Last week I visited Pimoroni. You probably saw the video of the B+/A+/Pi2 case back being cut in the previous update. One of the things we discussed, while I was there, was the idea of open sourcing the HDMIPi case plans so that people could make and hack their own cases.

We agreed the way forward and settled on the CC-BY-SA 4.0 license. For those who don't know, this is a Creative Commons license that lets you do pretty much whatever you want, as long as you leave the attributions in place and any derivative works are issued under the same license (and bearing the attributions). Apart from that, you can can do pretty much whatever you like.

I've made the cut files (.ai, .dxf, .pdf) available over at they are issued 'as is' with no support (I don't know how to use them myself, so can't support). I'm looking forward to seeing what sort of cases and case hacks people come up with. Enjoy....

Final Few Days of the RasPiO Duino Campaign

Alex's new KickStarter campaign has gone pretty well so far. There are just 4 days left and it's looking hopeful that we could hit the next stretch-goal. Please pop over and have a look, and consider backing it if you're at all interested in learning about Arduino programming on the Pi.

It fits nicely on the back of your HDMIPi as well...

Pi2 / B+ / A+ Backs are in stock and shipping

We are delighted to announce that the long-awaited B+ / A+ / Pi2 upgrade kits for HDMIPi are now in stock a little earlier than we expected...

Alex was in Sheffield at Pimoroni on Monday and saw some of these being cut. Here's a short video clip showing a Pi2 / B+ / A+ HDMIPi Back plate being laser cut.

RasPiO Duino KS Campaign

Last week Alex launched a new KickStarter project called RasPiO Duino. It's an affordable Raspberry Pi add-on giving you Arduino-like capabilities on your Pi. It's proved very popular and may well appeal to you if you'd like to combine the worlds of Pi and Arduino programming. Please check it out at...
