Re-Chord is a strategy boardgame for 1-4 players which plays in approximately 30-45 minutes. Each player is a budding guitarist for one of the various genres of music. Using real guitar picks and chords, guitarists have to use cunning and clever strategies to become the most popular guitarist of all time.
- Learn real guitar chords while you play!
- Formulate clever strategic plays quickly.
- Unique pick powers make each turn a fun decision.
- Interaction without a "take-that" feeling.
- 1-4 Players, Ages 8+, 30-45 minutes.
Guitarists get a secret genre that indicates their color to start the game and want to fill the fretboard with their color, being careful not to reveal their genre too early. In addition to riffing around the fretboard, guitarists can score points by completing Chord Cards.
Everyone starts the game with three random Chord Cards but can obtain more during the game. Playing a second variation of the same chord proves you are a skilled guitarist and triggers the Re-Chord score.
Once the first four frets have been filled with guitar picks, the game ends and guitarists tally up their jam sessions. The guitarist and genre with the most total popularity wins and gets to play air guitar to any song of their choosing (*or just says good game and respectfully helps put the game back in its beautiful box.)
The Re-Chord Soloist mode puts solo players up against three varying levels of difficulty. The Automa's actions are being added to the current Chord cards and are very simple to follow. A full PDF of solo rules and Video of Solo play will be available very soon.
- Three difficulty levels.
- Varying strategies based on genre.
- Incredibly easy to play, difficult to master.
- Not a highscore solo mode, a real Automa opponent.
The soloist mode was developed following Morten Monrad Pedersen's "Automa Approach" which is the amazing solo design theory behind Jamey Stegmaier games like Scythe and Viticulture. We'd like to thank Morten and Jamey for giving us their blessing to create a heavily inspired Automa opponent and solo mode.
Placing a white pick allows the guitarist to choose and place another pick from the public pile, taking its action if they wish.
Placing a red pick allows the guitarist to remove any other pick from the fretboard and place it back in the bag.
Blue picks allow a guitarist to MOVE or swap any other pick(s). Above you see the Blue pick MOVING another pick to an open location.
Blue picks allow a guitarist to move or SWAP any other pick(s). Above you see the Blue pick SWAPPING two pick's locations.
Grey picks allow a guitarist to turn any pick face down and then they may move it to an open space.
Purple picks allow any guitarist to pluck (turn face up) a face down pick and use its power if they wish.
Wylde picks can be placed anywhere on the fretboard, including replacing an existing pick. Wyldes count as all colors and face down for everyone's Chord Cards, but do not count for any genre scores during fret scoring.
We have partnered with Backerkit to ensure that after the campaign backers can add on more copies of games, extras, and anything else made available. Backers will be able to adjust and increase order amounts prior to fulfillment.
Risks and challenges
Projects come with some amount of risk but we've done everything possible to mitigate the known variables. Yanaguana Games has published two titles previously and know the manufacturing process and the challenges that can arise. We've made the majority of the mistakes on our own dime which allows us to maximize your support by efficiently getting a great game delivered to you, the amazing backer. We've also partnered with Kickstarter Expert Daniel Zayas to help us avoid common pitfalls and mistakes we may not have been aware of.
There are a few unique risks with Re-Chord that could always produce unknown issues, but the most apparent is the use of custom guitar picks. We've worked with our manufacturing partner to ensure they are prepared to produce these for us. The process of producing picks can however take a bit longer than wooden meeples or laser cut chit board which is reflected in our estimated delivery date.
We want to deliver the best quality game to you as fast as possible. If we can expedite any part of the process without sacrificing quality it will be a priority.
We want to thank you for putting your trust in our team. We know you work hard to be able to enjoy your games when the time comes and we are honored that Re-Chord will be joining your collection. If you have ANY questions during the campaign feel free to message Marshall or Andrew directly and we'll be happy to answer.Learn about accountability on Kickstarter
