Borne out of the frustration of time spent untangling cables and the desire to have something useful to prototype on my new 3D printer, I started to develop a cable winder. It started off just as something I was making for myself, but as I got into my 10th round of prototyping everyone I showed wanted one and I was using mine every day. I began to think I had a product worth sharing.
I'm excited about the product I've developed and would love to be able to share it with everyone, in order to do so I will need some help, and this is why I'm here.
Color and Compatibility
I plan to color match the plastic to the iPhone 5c color range. Being able to work closely with suppliers during trial runs will be invaluable to get these colors right. I have been using the i'm Tidy with an iPhone 5 and an iPhone 5s but it is also compatible with the iPhone 5c, iPod touch 5th generation or iPod nano 7th generation. Any Apple product with a lightening cable that uses the 5W power adapter is compatible however it is important to point out that although the iPad mini does fit, because of it's size you have to be careful with the docking feature.
I have built prototypes, tested the parts, designed the packaging, contacted a logistics company and a toolmaker for quotes. Now I need to order the injection molding tool to make the final plastic i'm Tidy product.
I will order a small batch of final product to test that everything works just like the prototypes and that the colors are correct. Once these are okay, I will place the production order to get the i'm Tidy's out to their new owners.
Although not finalized, I intend to have manufacturing carried out locally, as that makes it easier for me to ensure the high quality that the product deserves. Making sure everything fits tightly but not too tight is crucial, having production close by to over see all of this will be invaluable. I also value supporting North American manufacturing and the domestic design industry.
Major timeline goals
The i'm Tidy is a simple solution to a real problem and a stylish addition to your apple product. It has been a dream to design and produce my own simple, useful and cool product.
Back the project because I really want to be able to share this great little product with everyone. Know that you helped get it out there.

Risks and challenges
Tuning the important fits will be the challenging part of production. My experience and production background should minimize this and by working locally and closely with the suppliers, we can reduce the turnaround time on iterations.
If the there are a high volume of sales I do not have a great deal of distribution experience, I will outsource this to a distribution and shipping partner which I have lined up to help.Learn about accountability on Kickstarter
