It's been awhile since we posted an update from the Polycarp movie, but things are far from quiet behind the scenes! Currently, we have teams of skilled craftsmen in Ohio, Pennsylvania, Tennessee, Oklahoma, and Colorado, all working to complete the movie with excellence, and thanks to the generous support of our Kickstarter backers!
We've received some more media coverage since our last update. Executive Producer, Jerry Henline, was interviewed on the Generations Radio broadcast, and Polycarp received a mention in Cincy Magazine!
We are excited to announce that we have a locked edit, meaning that the editing portion is complete, which allows the music and sound effects to be built around the visuals.
After locking the edit, post-production is far from over. Much work is now going into creating visual effects shots, sound design, and the musical score. Here's a sample of one aspect of the audio work, courtesy of our Sound Designer, Nathan Ashton:
Here is Nathan's interpretation of what we're seeing:
"The two dark stripes high up on the left and the one near the bottom are tones from lights or other equipment. The bright band at the bottom is a specter of our modern world. It includes low end room tone build up and (the horizontal blip to the far left near the bottom) a truck rumble. The right side is what it looks like when it is ready for mixing. The wavy lines in the middle are the words "The Lord provided." The vertical stripe on the right is a breath exhale."
Well there you have it! After the audio files are "cleaned" and ready for mixing, sound effects need to be gathered (and some created from scratch) to bring the sounds of Polycarp to life, but more on that later.
Stay tuned for more updates in the coming weeks!
