About this project

"SOUL RESONANCE" is a full-length documentary about how Zimbabwean Music came to North America 42 years ago and is continuing to spread.  We are very fortunate to have the musician Taj Mahal as our narrator!

We are excited to have music from the following Zimbabwean musicians in our movie:  Alport Mhlanga, Thomas Mapfumo, Stella Chiweshe, Cosmas Magaya, Beauler Dyoko, Tendai Muparutsa, Garadziva Chigamba, Paul Mataruse and Julia Tsitsi Chigamba along with many North Americans who have composed their own songs or made their own arrangements from traditional music.

Doug & Laurel are very close to completing the final editing of their film and we need assistance to finish the DVD to release to the world.  That includes graphic design and the entire DVD replication and packaging process.  We plan to use Nick Parslow and the company Verdentity to design our sustainable product packaging.  We are visualizing the final packaging to be a 4-panel DVDigipak using recycled paperboard, rather than a plastic clamshell. We believe in sustainability for our planet.

To find out more about our movie, please visit our website:  www.sacredpathexplorations.com.  You can also add your name to our mailing list to be notified about significant events.

Our other big news is that we are now in Homer, Alaska for the entire summer!  Doug is a commercial pilot and flight instructor, besides being a video engineer in his previous life.  He was hired by old pilot friends to be a back-up pilot for 2 small companies that do bear-viewing, flight-seeing and fishing trips.  And, Homer is the place where we were first introduced to this powerful music!   In a population of around 5,000, there are now 4 Zimbabwean marimba bands and many individuals playing mbira too.  We will be putting the finishing touches on our movie while up here.

We would love your help getting this documentary out to the world!

Thank you.
