WELCOME TO NEW SAINTS CITY!
In a city that never sleeps, where law and order are forgotten dreams, and crime and chaos put fear in the hearts of every man, woman, and child, you rise above the rooftops or skulk past the shadows of dark alleys. Spoken of in hushed whispers, your name is legend. You command power that few would dream of. At the tips of your fingers, in the palm of your hands, you manifest abilities that break the borders between human and superhuman. What will you do with such power? Are you a heroic champion of order and defender of the city’s citizens, or a villainous seeker of personal power and agent of chaos? Whatever your choice, you are Superhuman. Rise to power!
WHAT TYPE OF GAME IS THIS?
SUPERHUMAN: RISE TO POWER is a custom expandable card game that uses tactical miniature style gameplay in conjunction with over 80 unique powers. We have hired and acquired over 120 quality pieces of art from comic book artists including those who have worked for Marvel, DC, and Image comics to bring the game to life. Game time is easily customizable, and can take from 45 minutes to an epic three hours depending on the version you wish to play. You must first use your powers and abilities to earn Justice Tokens on the Scales of Justice, then defeat your enemy in a final showdown battle!
Gameplay reflects a typical storyline in a superhero movie, with a beginning, middle, and end. Specifically you will:
DETERMINE YOUR ORIGIN...
Choose a pre-made power deck, or custom build your own, choosing from at least eighty different powers and four Power Origins as you do so. Then, Choose your character and determine your statistics, either by choosing a pre-made character or customizing your own by dividing 18 points among the five statistics of Physical Power, Mental Power, Talent, Action, and Vitality.
Your powers are represented through Power Cards, which are played in a fashion similar to most custom card games. 'Constant' power cards can only be played on your turn, while 'Instant' powers will be usable at any time.
Power Cards can be attack powers, defense powers or ability powers. Their use is dependent upon the tactical situation of the game.
THE PLOT THICKENS...
Players are divided up into two teams: Heroes and Villains. Once this happens, heroes and villains will set out to accomplish Heroic Deeds and Diabolical Schemes respectively, found on Plot Cards that represent missions that must be undertaken in the city limits. Then, earn Justice Tokens for Order (if a hero) or Chaos (if a villain).
You will also have to navigate a City Map to perform your Heroic Deeds or Diabolical Schemes, and thwart those of your enemies! The use of the map creates scenarios that require tactical, miniature style gameplay.
THE FINAL BATTLE...
The first player or team to earn the required number of Justice Tokens on the Scales of Justice gets to initiate a Showdown, and will then try to defeat their enemy in an epic battle!
The game mechanics are based on ten-sided dice. These are used in combination with your character's primary statistics, to help you successfully use power cards and plot cards to combat your foes or move the story forward.

Risks and challenges
We have represented our product truthfully, and have been as transparent as possible. We are dedicated to making the final draft of this game as fun as possible, and while it is still a work in progress, it is almost done. We will work tirelessly using feedback from the community to make this game as accessible and fun as possible. We may call upon our community of backers for feedback in the months of tweaking the game following kickstarter success to its publication to ensure that our direction is in line with what peoples' expectations have been, to deliver a product that matches our description.
Budgets: Everything has been priced. We are budgeted for success so that we can deliver according to our promises. Shipping is included in our pricing for United States orders. We will be able to fulfill all commitments, including stretch goals when we achieve our targets.
Artwork & Design: We have started to compile the artwork, and have already commissioned and completed a majority of the art needed to publish the game. We are familiar with the process and know how to commission quality art. This means that there will be a relatively short turnaround from the point when we meet our goals, to the time of publication. However, we will continue to share our plans with our customers to ensure that our design meets the overall desires of our funders. We will continue to hire high quality artists to improve the quality of the game to continue to meet standards with any stretch goals, although most art has already been completed. We are planning on hiring a graphic designer to help with the layout of our rulebook as well. We also want to be able to pay for additional components, complete stretch goals, commission art for booster packs, so the game can be fully experienced and allow for more diverse gameplay.
Printing: We already printed a prototype with our artwork, which has been represented on this page. We plan to revamp the cover, some card design elements, and the rulebook design elements for the final version, using feedback from our customers before we send the game to the printers. We have a plan set up with a trusted and reputable printing company to ensure timely and efficient manufacturing and printing quality. We hope to also provide the highest quality that we can afford, and while we believe that the goal we have set will let us reach a level that will create a pleasing game experience, the more money we raise, the higher the quality will become. We will post new stretch goals to reflect new perks if we exceed expectations.
Stretch Goals: We don't anticipate any major delays due to completion of stretch goals. Booster Packs for higher tiers have already been commissioned for the first six tiers, and we have artists ready to help us if we meet addition stretch goals who can deliver quality art that meets standards of the comic and gaming industry in a timely fashion.
Shipping: Estimates on weight and dimensions from our board game manufacturers have been priced through normal channels (e.g. USPS) to the US, Amazon for some countries, and a 3rd party discount shipping company for our other international backers. We're still shopping around to find the lowest shipping costs. We've also factored in the costs for packing materials.
