A prototype is a preliminary model of something. Projects that offer physical products need to show backers documentation of a working prototype. This gallery features photos, videos, and other visual documentation that will give backers a sense of what’s been accomplished so far and what’s left to do. Though the development process can vary for each project, these are the stages we typically see:
Proof of Concept
Explorations that test ideas and functionality.
Demonstrates the functionality of the final product, but looks different.
Looks like the final product, but is not functional.
Appearance and function match the final product, but is made with different manufacturing methods.
Appearance, function, and manufacturing methods match the final product.
The magic of Magnetism in A Toy.
Remember that time when you first saw and felt the power of magnetism as a kid? Wow. What an awesome moment. Magnetic objects locking together. Then when you turn one round, an invisible force stops you pushing them together. How can that be?
It’s easy to forget as adults how amazing the invisible powers that magnets possess are for kids. But now Magnetykes are set to present a new way to introduce your children to that magnetic wonderland.
Magnetykes are robot-like figures that come to life through the power of magnetism. They have movable arms, legs and heads, and each has their own magnetic vehicle and background story told in comic book form.
Magnets are probably most kids’ first brush with the world of science. We want to make it extra memorable by giving kids a fun toy to play with that possesses all that wonderful magnetic power. That’s why we’re looking to launch Magnetykes.
Every parent of kids of a certain age will have seen the look of amazement on their child’s face when they encounter the power of magnets. It’s a chance for kids to see AND FEEL invisible forces at work and to encounter the world of science. And with Magnetykes, kids get an amazing hands-on experience they’ll want to repeat over and over.
Magnets With Real Playing Power
Father of two, Scott Adams, the inventor and CEO of Magnetykes, knew magnets had the power to draw his kids away from their computer screens. But he wanted to develop magnetic toys with more staying and playing power than the traditional horseshoe shaped magnets. And so the Magnetykes were born, the name mixing the word magnetite which is the most magnetic of all naturally occurring minerals on Earth, with an affectionate expression used to refer to small kids.
As Scott says: “A magnetic field is magical and that’s how children will feel about our Magnetykes!” Ten Times Stronger
Magnetykes are no ordinary magnetic toy. Oh no. They feature built-in magnets that are 10 times stronger than any ceramic magnet toy currently on the market. Now, that’s the sort of information that really impresses kids and their friends.
There are plenty of toys around that grab the headlines one minute but disappear out of favor the next.
But magnets? As a toy, they’ve been popular for generations, because of the amazing things they let kids SEE AND FEEL.
Magnetykes are magnets for 21st Century kids. Using super strong and totally safe Neodymium Magnets, the strongest type of magnet that’s commercially available. And there are currently 3 Magnetyke characters to collect.
Magnetykes could well be the easiest toy to tidy up you ever buy your kids. Because in each box there’s a smooth sheet of metal on which kids can hang their character, vehicle and wrench ready for the next play session. Easy. And should the character or vehicle be mislaid, kids can use the power of magnetism to attract them back.
Our audience is children aged 4 and up, especially those who have yet to witness the power of magnetism. It’s a chance for them to get hands-on with magnets and create stories and scenarios based around each of the Magnetykes characters and their vehicles.
It’s every parent’s dream to find a kids’ toy that keeps them occupied while having real educational benefits too. Even better if that toy doesn’t require them to stare at a tablet or other screen.
That’s the beauty of Magnetykes. Fun. Educational. Tactile. And absolutely no need to switch on any digital gadgetry. You can tell this is a product that’s been invented by a parent who wanted to give their kids more of the kind of experiences that make childhood a time of amazing discoveries.
Yes, we’re never going to get kids away from their screens all of the time. But if we can give them toys that do something different, toys that excite them, toys that possess invisible powers that kids can actually feel, we’re going to go a long way to giving kids exciting options outside of the digital world.
Also in each pack, a magnetic wrench and a 14-page comic book with a story designed to fuel play and drive action. The comic focuses on the fun and entertaining side of the characters but also carries information that shows kids where magnets were first discovered and the historic significance of each of the character names.
Characters that appear to magically rise off the ground? Vehicles that move without being pushed or powered by batteries? There are plenty of kids out there who will have some of that as a birthday or Christmas present, or as a special treat.
That’s exactly what Magnetykes offer, and the three characters and their unique vehicles come in eye-catching packaging that’ll get kids excited about the potential of what’s inside.
What kid isn’t impressed by the biggest, the strongest or the tallest of anything? Magnetykes feature the strongest magnets on the toy market, so kids really get to feel the power of magnetism while they play. We all know that opposites attract and like forces repel, and you can bet you learned that by playing with magnets as a kid. It’s time to pass that knowledge down to a new generation, in a new fun format with more potential for play.
Hi, I’m Scott Adams, the inventor of Magnetykes. Like most kids, when I was growing up in New York, I loved discovering new things. And as a parent, I really didn’t want my kids to miss out on the fun of finding out about the magical powers of magnetism.
But I knew just a plain old magnet wasn’t going to cut it with kids of today. After all, there’s plenty else out there to keep kids occupied. There needed to be more to the magnets, more of a purpose and a point to playing with them.
So I thought about creating characters that possessed magnetic powers and giving them their own magnetic vehicles. This immediately gave rise to a whole story world around these characters and magnetism which I tried to capture in the comic. And so the Magnetykes were born.
My kids play-tested them, so too their friends. I’m starting with just three characters but there’s the potential to expand and create a whole world. But one step at a time! I’m hoping that with your backing, I can introduce my trio of Magnetykes to children across the world and use the toys to really foster an interest in (and amazement at) the world of science.
If you’re keen for there to be more non-digital toys available for kids to play with, and like the idea of character based toys with an educational purpose, please back my Magnetykes. As you can hopefully see, I’ve already produced an initial run with full packaging. But with your help, I’ll be able to let loose the Magnetykes in playrooms across the world. Scott now lives in Boca Raton, Florida, with his wife Lisa and their two children Joshua and Alexandra.
Buying a magnet is a rite of passage for kids everywhere. But standard magnets have limited appeal. However, with Magnetykes, kids get all the amazing power of a magnet in toy form, with a character and vehicle so they can race against friends and create their own stories and worlds too, all while exploring the power of magnets. What’s more, these magnets are ten times stronger than any other magnet based toy currently on the market. So Magnetykes pack the kind of power that really wows kids.
Scott Adams has been working on Magnetykes since 2015 and wants to share the power of his magnetic characters with the world. Already, the toys have won awards:
Magnetykes are STEM Authenticated and Award Winning.
Mom’s Choice Award
Family Choice Award
Dr. Toy Award
Creative Child Award
So these are toys that already have backers in the sense that people have seen that they have a real point and purpose, as well as being great fun for kids.
But while awards are great, what’s really required to get Magnetykes into the hands of kids all over the world is funding to create a stand-out marketing campaign to launch the product, and to manufacture, package and distribute Magnetykes across the world.
We understand that not everyone can back our campaign financially, but everyone can still help out by spreading the word about Magnetykes. As an educational toy, we think parents and teachers should know about them and have the opportunity to buy them for their kids. So please help us by using the official campaign hashtag #MagicOfMagnetykes
Risks and challenges
We are aware of some of the manufacturing challenges. Good design takes time and experience which we have. We are in constant contact with our overseas manufacturers to bring you the latest updates. We know what to look for and how to get there.
