About this project
What is PasteLink?
PasteLink is the easiest way to send and share files online. PasteLink is an online file sharing service which allows users to share files on their computer with friends, family, and coworkers. Pastelink makes it possible to share files of all types, and all sizes, with free sharing of files up to 2GB.
How does it work?
To share a file with PasteLink, it is a simple drag & drop. Users simply drag a file from their computer into the site. PasteLink quickly and automatically creates a custom download link for the file.
Simply share that link with the people you want to send the file to. When they visit or click on that link, they are taken immediately to a simple download page for the uploaded file.
What problem does PasteLink solve?
Sending files of any type (video, picture, zip, documents, etc) is usually done using a few methods, most commonly, via email. With email, files must be added as an attachment, which are generally very limited by size. Trying to send a file that is much larger than 25MB via email will usually result in error messages, undelivered messages, etc.
Another common way to send and share files online is with cloud storage services like Dropbox. The problem here is that you must sign up for an account, and then install software on your computer before you can get around to actually adding and sharing files. This is tedious, and difficult for non computer savvy users.
PasteLink solves these common problems by offering a ridiculously simple drag & drop interface for sending and sharing files. No account signups required, no software to install.
What will the funds be used for?
If successful, the funds will be used to develop PasteLink into a fully featured online file sharing service. Features will include:
- ability to upload files of any size
- personalized account pages for managing uploads
- code snippet sharing
- automatic virus checking of uploaded files
- file encryption, permissions/security
- picture resizing and adjustments for image files
- much, much more to be decided
The funds will also be used to develop native applications for iPhone, Android, PC, and Mac platforms.
When will the project be completed?
If funding from Kickstarter is successful, the fully functional product, as well as iPhone, Android, Mac, and PC applications will be available by no later than August of this year (2012).
