About this project
What is it?
The FitRider™ is a new type of bicycle that offers an upper body workout combined with all the great, low impact, cardio benefits of riding a standard bike.
Who is it for?
The FitRider™ is an alternative for anyone who rides a conventional bike and wants to get a more balanced workout. It is also for anyone who is currently using exercise equipment but doesn’t want to be confined indoors. It can even be used indoors during the colder months so you can continue to stay fit year round. It is the amount of flexibility that FitRider™ offers that makes it so exciting.

How is it different from other products?
The FitRider™ offers a low impact workout for your upper as well as your lower body while maintaining the ease of riding a bike. The riding position is upright. Your neck and back are in a natural relaxed position. You are able to vary the workload between your legs and arms, which allows you to rest one or the other as you need.
In addition, the levers can be made stationary by using the anchoring point. The linkage is secured by a nut and a hairpin-type cotter pin. The changeover takes about a minute. The stationary position can be used when you are learning to ride or when your arms become fatigued. This feature is unparalleled and no other product offers this amount of flexibility.
Unlike some other products, there is no lag or gap between strokes that may cause stalling. You have the ability to exert continuous pressure when climbing a hill. You can push with one foot while you pull with one arm and push with the other.
How does it work?
The FitRider™ has two power levers instead of handlebars. The levers allow the rider to use their arms as well as their legs to propel the bike. The levers are turned to steer the bike. This patented application solves the problem of being able to steer while the levers are reciprocating. The problem is solved by lining up the pivot points of the lever with the pivot points of the steering linkage so that when the levers reciprocate, the steering is unaffected.
How will it be sold?
The FitRider™ will come in two sizes (small and large) to accommodate riders of different heights. Both sizes will be offered in a glossy black and gray color scheme.

To find out if you should order a small or a large, measure your inseam. If you measure 28-32, the small will fit you. For an inseam 32 or greater, you will need the large bike. If you are below the above numbers and still want the bike, let us know! Based on the response, we may produce a smaller version in the future.
Where are we at?
The FitRider™ has been in process for several years. The bikes that you see in the video are real working prototypes. They are 3rd generation designs that have been perfected by riding the 2nd generation prototypes over 5,000 miles!
With your support we can bring the FitRider™ to enthusiasts worldwide! We are close to entering full scale production. This requires that we purchase a large quantity of bikes to attain a lower cost per bike. Your contribution will help us with this, as well as marketing and operational expenses to continue to sell bikes after our Kickstarter campaign has ended.
Who are we?
We are bicycle enthusists, engineers, and machinists who have come together to develop a bicycle that provides a total body workout.
Bill Capek developed the 1st prototype of the product. While he was out riding one day, he met Abraham Mathew who was walking in the same park. Together they have engineered and developed the 3rd generation prototypes which you see on this page.
Our 2nd generation prototype bike has been ridden well over 5,000 miles. As a result, we can confidently guarantee the integrity of FitRider™.
We guarantee that your FitRider™ will be free from manufacturing defects, including both workmanship and materials, as stated below:
- Five years: Frame
- Two years: Fork, Steering Column, Steering Column Bearings, Lever Bearings and Linkages
- One year: All Other Components, Paint and Decals, excluding Tires and Tubes
The final product may be slightly different than the pictures or existing prototypes. We are always trying to make our bike better and may implement any improvements before the bikes go into production. We will also inform our supporters of any major changes on the product.
Risks and challenges
Currently we are negotiating with several companies overseas to produce our product. Once we finalize this aspect of the project, we will be able to begin production. We may run into some problems during this process, but we are committed to solving them quickly.
