My name is Chloe Rosser, I am a photographer living in London, England, and I'm asking you to help me produce my first photography book, 'Form & Function'.
I studied photography at Falmouth University and I'm now represented by L A Noble Gallery in London.
My photography deals with the human figure, looking at our relationship with our own bodies and the human condition. It's a relationship which is fraught and complicated. We are constantly under pressure to live up to conventional and unrealistic ideas of beauty. We want our bodies to be this perfect housing, but it can't always live up to these ideals.

In my images I am exploring this by transforming the body into a fleshy sculpture, enabling you to look at the human form differently. You notice the colours in the skin, the marks on the flesh and the contours of the body.
None of the images are photoshopped, they're all real bodies. I use contorted poses to abstract the figures, while still retaining many human qualities.

I've made this work to challenge mainstream concepts of body image by capturing a fluidity of gender and identity. I worked with people with a variety of skin tones and body shapes with ages ranging from about twenty to sixty and including people of a non gender binary. And in these images they all stand on equal terms. With a so often male dominated subject area, I offer a female perspective.

The projects 'Form' and 'Function' have been exhibited in the UK and Europe and is actually on show right now as a solo exhibition with L A Noble Gallery, at Photofusion in London, England. It's on until 18th June 2018 so you can visit and see the images in the flesh! Pun intended.
The projects have been featured in many magazines and books, such as the Huffington Post, Wall Street International, Blow Photo, Genda Magazine, and Max Joseph Magazine. 'Form' was selected as a winner by ArtSlant Prize, a finalist in the Renaissance Photography Prize, it has been longlisted for the Aesthetica Art Prize and chosen as an 'Editor's Pick' by Life Framer.

Your support will fund all the production and printing costs needed to make this beautifully designed book possible. It will be a run of 500 books which will be 28 x 24cm in size and will include an essay by Laura Noble, director of L A Noble Gallery. It will feature around 90 images, made up of two of my projects, the first one 'Form' and my newest body of work, 'Function'. The design has already been completed by the amazing graphic designer, Claire Parsons-Brown.
Have a look at some of the rewards you can receive. There's postcards, the limited edition book itself, your own signed and editioned sculptural kit of silk clay in 6 different skin tones, 2 limited editioned prints in two sizes, only available through this Kickstart campaign, or even a one hour photoshoot with myself. All these rewards are pictured below.

Risks and challenges
The risk and challenge involved here would be the chance of delay with printing and delivery. However, I am working with a graphic designer who is very experienced in printing and she will organise this step. We have already chosen Gavin Martin to print with, obtained a quote and enquired on their turn around time. I have factored this in to my schedule and allowed plenty of time for both printing and delivery. We will do our utmost to get the books and rewards delivered on time in September.
