Why do we make the EinScan-S 3D scanner?
First, We make the desktop 3D scanner with industrial grade accuracy, resolution and speed, for three basic reasons:
- Desktop 3D laser digitizers' performance is not enough for design purpose.
- The Industrial grade 3D scanners are still quite expensive and not easy for everybody.
- Laser light is too strong for eyes, especially not safe for Children's eyes.
SHINING 3D desires to offer high quality 3D scanning technology in an easy and affordable way. EinScan-S bring the industrial grade 3D scanning technology to everyone who wants to design high quality 3D models. Now, everybody can be a 3D model designer.
Second, we make EinScan-S to complete the Scan-to-Print solution in a easier and better way
With EinScan-S, you can scan whatever object you like automatically, turn it into a digital 3D model on your computer. The standard STL format model is seamlessly compatible with any desktop 3D printers. You don’t even need to be an professional 3D model engineer, all the digital models are ready to print.
How It Works:
This scanner adopts structure white light scanning technology, which features faster scanning speed (3 minutes /circle, much faster than similar desktop 3d scanner), lower noise, better details (accuracy ≤0.1mm) , safer for eyes compared to laser scanning technology.

The 3rd version of EinScan-S is started already. We're trying to offer a smarter, more portable and perfect 3D scanner to you.
There are two main differences between 2nd version and the 3rd version:
1. In order to ensure the scanning accuracy, we use wireless light spots positioning instead of sliding tracks to set right the turntable position. It's an easier way and makes more sense.
2. Thanks to this more compact design, the weight is decreased by 30%!
The newest prototyping machine is being produced and tested, we'll keep to update. Please keep an eye on us.

Risks and challenges
We've worked extremely hard to go over obstacles and develop this incomparable 3d scanner EinScan-S. Delightedly we completed the second prototype of the scanner which performs really well.
However, ahead of rewarding by success, we still face challenges of pilot run and mass production, the biggest obstacle is high quality injection mold. We'd like EinScan-S be produced by injection molding for a better looking and stability.The injection molding will be ready on February 2015 in our plan, and the scanner' shipping time will be guaranteed after the mass production.
We believe this crowdfunding would help us to accomplish our dream: Make a desktop 3d scanner with industry level accuracy and speed for everyone who wants enjoy fun with 3D Technology. EinScan-S, for more shining ideas.
The EinScan-S adopts white light technology. The scanning is carried out by projecting structured patterns, one single scan can capture more than 1 million points from object's surface, which allows EinScan-S the faster scanning speed, lower noise, finer details and safer using compared to laser scanning technology.
Under the Automatic scan mode, place the object on rotating turntable, it takes less than 3 minutes to scan one circle.
Under the Free scan mode, it takes less than 10 seconds to capture each single scan and the overall scanning time varies depending on the object’s size and operator’s experience.
Based on VDI-VDE standard, place one pre-calibrated standard ceramic dumbbell on the rotating turntable, Scan it with EinScan-S to obtain the distance between two Spheres' center, the difference compared with the real value of Sphere center distance is under 0.1mm.
Compared with laser scanner like Makerbot product, it comes with lower noise, much better details, the data quality will exceed the 3D printer' resolution.
It comes with two scanning modes. The maximum scanning size is 215mm*215mm*200mm under Automatic scan mode and 700mm*700mm*700mm under Free scan mode.
Yes. EinScan-S scan software is equipped with high dynamic range(HDR) scanning mode, which makes scanning of objects with both dark and bright colors possible.
STL, ASC for now, which is standard data format for any 3D Printers.
Win7 64bit, Win8 64bit for now. Linux、Mac systems are not supported at present.
Not yet. the EinScan-S' target is to create high quality 3D content for desktop 3D printers, which can only print single color model, so the color texture is useless for this application.

Yes, the scanned data from EinScan-S is ready to print for any 3D Printers. Users can use some software (such as meshlab, blender, meshmixer ) to simplify the model data to smaller size for 3D printers, which may not match large data.
Shipping prices vary by location and country. Unfortunately, international shipping is not as easy or cheap as we would like it to be. Thank you for understanding.
We start to deliver the 1st batch on May, 2015.
There are 2 colors of EinScan-S: black and white. Unless specified to be white, black is the default color of delivery.
In order to capture more details and keep high resolution, the recommended object size is no less than 20mm.
