Is the owner going to actually finish this series?

    2. Marcello Lins on January 11, 2015

Apparently, the project, as most Kickstarter projects, got abandoned by the owner. This project got a funding value of more than 10 times it's initial goal, and still, the owner couldn't deliver the full series of videos : http://codeschool.org/game-programming/

The "FULL" series got released online, but no further commitment was made to actually finish what we've paid for.

    3. Joe Greathead on June 25, 2014

Any update on when the rest of these videos will be completed?

    4. Brian Will Creator on April 2, 2013

Thanks, Argon. I definitely will finish the series. As you may have noticed on my Youtube channel, I've been making some game-related videos to 1) get some ideas out of my head and 2) practice making videos that aren't so dry. Hopefully some tricks I've learned will carry into the programming videos. I'm currently finishing a video on basics of geometry transformations and 3D projection, and I have several later videos sketched out. I'll get into OpenGL at least by June. To make up for the delays, I'll probably expand the scope into some more advanced material, but that stuff may be slow in coming too.

    5. Argon on April 1, 2013

      Hey Brian,
How is it going? Do you have plans to continue the series? At the moment I mess around with the book "The Elements of Computing Systems", but when I probably finish it in about one or two months I would like to start with your course. Are there any chances that you will complete the project till then? Don't get stressed by the project if you have a hard time at the moment. For me it would not even be a problem if you would finish it in a few years from now. It is done when it is done.

Thanks for all the videos you made and published on your site. Best wishes and don't stress your self to much.

    6. Brian Will Creator on February 13, 2013

Apologies for the silent hiatus. I just got back to working on it yesterday. Should have something up soon. I won't be finished with everything by the end of the month like planned, but I will make good eventually!

@Brian - any new chapters coming along or at least an informational update since your last message 5 weeks ago (January 5th)? Thanks!

I really like it when there are the visual aids to represent the point as well. turns out seeing it and listening about how it works makes it far easier to understand.

    9. Luca Galli on November 25, 2012

Backed too at the last minutes, considering that your material is of top notch quality.
Looking forward to read through it and maybe use it during our classes!

Sorry i normally dont hijack a KS'rs, but i felt this was worth it. The classes are pretty well structured and deserving of some love. *Bows to the people who jumped on late* Hopefully this will allow some legroom to build some dynanmic content. Other projects have asked for way more, but i do not see any fruits of labor and would be hard pressed to find something better. Kudos and congrats.

upped my pledge again.... this is a great tool that everyone should back, instead of some of the other projects out there.... like a plastic wallet or anything that doesnt enrich your life or knowledge of something..... KUDOS Brian Will and everyone who has setup projects similar to this...

I took a look at some of your previous lecture videos and I'm very impressed by your concise explanations. It's a fantastic set of learning materials!
I'm really excited about this project and glad to see that it's well over funded. You deserve it.

    19. Wan Kit Fong on November 21, 2012

      Backed, cant wait :)

    20. Philipp Steinmann on November 18, 2012

Interested in 2D game programming as a stepping stone to 3D games, and I always found your tutorials to be very high-quality and in-depth.

    21. Lim Sze Seong on November 17, 2012

I backed this great project because it will be released under open license. Thank you, I'm Backer#402 from Malaysia.

After seeing some of your other videos... You sir are a pro educator. You know just the right approach. So many people want to record themselves writing code, but you have a way of presenting the material in a comprehensive way! Thank you much for the effort you put into your vidoes. I am sure that anything you produce will be excellent quality.

    23. stig atle steffensen on November 11, 2012

Just wanted to say thanks! This project was exactly what I was looking for, so backing it was a something I definitely did not have to think twice about.
I'm looking forward to see how this project develops etc.

@sgwong Sure, nothing fancy, but definitely basic sound.

The game will have any sound effect? background music? ...may be asking too much :)

    26. Ashley Williams on November 9, 2012

Would be interested if there was any stretch goals. or something like getting the sample game but letting us vote on what sprite sheet or colour combinations (or some other cosmetic meaningless thing but could be fun to get a bit of community involvement)

    27. Jennifer D'aww on November 4, 2012

Huge fan of your videos Brian, looking forward to this series!

    28. Brian Will Creator on November 1, 2012

My videos on codeschool.org presume no prior knowledge of programming, as long as you go through them in order. This game course will presume a low level of proficiency in Python, so you would want to watch the videos at codeschool.org up through the Python video (though you can skip the HTML and internet stuff). Knowing Javascript won't be necessary for the game stuff, but the Python video presumes you watched the Javascript video.

    29. Matt Price on November 1, 2012

I have no knowledge about computer programming whatsoever, and my school is making me take a bunch of useless prerequisites before i take any classes for it (it's my major). Would your course be helpful to people like me (with no knowledge of computer programming)?

@brian will. Great I enjoy your youtube videos, very structured and concise. whatever you think will work is fine by me

    31. udun on October 30, 2012

Yeah it would be nice to have some challenge goals :P

    32. Gui Ambros on October 30, 2012

Nice initiative, thanks for making it happen. Yes, you should add some additional upper pledges or some challenge goals. For example, an additional chapter on shaders when reaching $4K, debugging on $8K, etc.

There you go....$100 from me and you are now past your goal at $711....hopefully you can attract much more, though. Keep up the great work!

    34. Brian Will Creator on October 29, 2012

@surafel defar I think most code will still be presented as stills, but there will definitely be more code, and more diagrams and video clips than in my usual stuff.

Really excited about the 3D algorithm part, hope you get this funded fast so that you can follow up with some in depth knowledge of it ;D

Always liked your stuff, some of the most in depth, clear, and well structured info on YouTube. $25 from me. :)
