FreezeME is a 3D platformer in the spirit of the N64 era!
We want to bring you back to those huge wonderful worlds filled with magic and that feeling of discovery and excitement.
Help R to stop Fat the Cat and his evil plan to create a world free of dogs.
This is a late 90s homage game, but we wanted to combine this genre with some gameplay mechanics that are refreshing and new, as well as some mechanics that didn’t make it into the 90s originals, but are found in some of the later classics.
- The main differentiator is that R can take pictures and “freeze” enemies and objects for a short period of time generating gameplay situations like these:
- At some point in the game she will be able to turn into a very angry kid and gain some special abilities:
- And well, we’ve also got faux gravity!
The levels are massive! There are four main levels and each one is approximately 3-4 times the size of those in Super Mario 64. They are all filled with secrets, mini-games and our special sauce: “wonder” :)
And like some of the greatest 3D platformers, we´ve got a HUB level!
From there you can gain access to the other levels. As it was in the classic games, the more items you collect the more doors will be open to you.
Additionally, there are some Challenge levels! Those levels put you in different situations to test your skills under a time limit!
Fat the Cat has left some messages and graffiti all around the levels.
What if we ask him to write down your name in one of them? Well, we can do something about that if you pick up the GRAFITTINIZE ME reward!
The FreezeME world is, well, full of pigs.
They are like the Swiss, they stayed away from all the battles and made no enemies. They just want to have a peaceful time and hang out with their friends and family.
They want to give you the chance to be part of their family: if you go for the PIGGY FAMILY reward they will rename a brother after you and when you approach them they will say something like this:
And you can also suggest attire!
They are also the guardians of the Green Pigcoins, one of the most valuable collectibles in game - but they don´t give them away easily, they will put you to the test.
For example, going through theses flags in less than 5 seconds…
Or, collecting all the missing animals for this farmer…
However lately they are running out of ideas, you can help them out by picking the PIG CHALLENGE reward and suggest one!
FreezeME will be available on Wii U, Steam, Windows, Mac, and Linux*.
Additionally, we are hoping to release FreezeME on more consoles in the future.
Since the game is being developed on Unity, it should not be difficult to port it to PS4 or Xbox One - given the opportunity.
Please note, though, that we are only focusing on the Wii U and PC releases for this Kickstarter and we are not able to promise anything for the other consoles - so stay tuned and cross your fingers for future updates!
* We currently only offer official support for Ubuntu Linux, version 10.10 or later with proprietary graphic drivers installed. However, users might be able to run the game on some other distributions.
If it had to be developed from scratch definitely not, but we are really close to a beta stage and are planning to release the game this year.
Even though we are a relatively small team: Walfrido (Game designer), Case (Musician) and Sergio Ordoño (Consultant), we just need a small final investment to help us going through the last part of the development.
The game will be released even if we don´t succeed here, but the release date would be probably pushed back as it would take us more time to gather the necessary funds.
At this point we would like to start building an awesome community and fan base that can provides us with valuable feedback and help us delivering the game we would love to play ourselves.
Risks and challenges
It´s been a long road up to this point, and there are no ‘downhills’ in game development, but we are confident that we have already overcome the most difficult parts of this project but just need a final boost to get us to the finish line.
As you can see, we don´t have any stretch goals. We know what is left to do and the time needed for that, and we don’t want to add any uncertainties to the equation.Learn about accountability on Kickstarter
