This year Beacon Open Studios (September 24-25) is having a full color multi-page catalog printed that will include a map to the studios, pictures of the artist’s artwork and more details about each individual artist involved. We are having 5000 copies of this catalog printed and would like to have it distributed along with the September issue of Chronogram Magazine in select markets. The catalog is very pricey to print but we’ve raised enough money this year to cover it. We still need to raise a little more to pay Chronogram Magazine for their distribution service.
In past years we have relied on volunteers to distribute the map. Many good people have driven around with boxes of maps in their cars dropping them off as they pass by cafes and art galleries from New Paltz to Peekskill and spots in between. With 5000 copies this year, the volunteer method is not effective enough.
We are committed to keeping costs low for the participating artists. If you have ever come out for Beacon Open Studios and enjoyed this free event, please consider making a donation. No amount is too small. A donation of $25 or more will get you a free Beacon Open Studios tee shirt!
All over town. Beacon Open Studios is an event, not a place. It is (easily) confused with Beacon Studios which is a building that houses several artist's studios. It is also frequently confused with Open Space, a street art gallery on Main St. Beacon.
the last weekend in September. This year it is Sept 24-25 noon-6pm
As an artist, it is too late to sign up. The deadline was July 15th. Check back next year.
The organizers of BOS are committed to keeping costs low for participating artists. The registration fees range from $20-$60 depending on when and what type of involvement artists choose. That fee barely covers the printing of the catalog. We need to raise more money for publicity, hanging the Kickoff Show, and many misc. expenses that add up quickly. No one gets paid to work on Beacon Open Studios.
