Hi, my name is Emily and I have an idea. I call it, the Central Falls POP-Up Museum. I am a grad student at the Rhode Island School of Design and I am building a community-oriented art museum that will be open for one week in May. I will be building the museum in an old carriage house behind the Central Falls Library.
Central Falls has had its recent share of problems. One of which is its inaccessibility to art and cultural events. The Pop-Up museum will feature local artists who live or work in Central Falls. The museum will also have an educational space for art making activities and workshops and an outdoor space for performances. The Pop-up activities and events will be free and cater to Central Falls residents.
I have already started designing and cleaning out the space, but I need money for construction materials and event costs. I believe this project will create an exciting and interactive venue for a place that desperately needs it. Please consider donating to this project. You can follow the progress of the museum at my blog.
Risks and challenges
The Pop-Up Museum is my graduate thesis project. The risks of this project is underestimating material and event costs. If any problems were to arise with the development of this project, I will be forced to scale back my designs. I already have the support of my school, community groups in central falls and other interested members to make the project successful.Learn about accountability on Kickstarter
