What will you use the money for…..
We have secured a space at 5110 Townsend Ave in Los Angeles for our Café. Additionally, we have assembled a design team to make our vision of Bex a reality. Walnut for our benches and tables will be single sourced and milled in California. The structural metal work will be fabricated in Los Angeles by workers making a living wage. Buying quality, local sustainable materials goes beyond what we serve, but also in how we serve it.
Customers will not be concerned with gluten cross contamination as all ingredients will be handpicked by us and then checked in the Gluten Free Certification process. This certification can cost upwards of five thousand dollars, but will allow us to be recognized as the first certified GF Café in our area.
A Sustainably Designed Water Purification System that is NSF/ANSI certified for all dining uses in the Café including: teas, coffee, almond milk, soups, drinking water, bread, etc. This water purification system retains the beneficial materials such as calcium and magnesium without the addition of salt, chlorine or fluoride currently found in tap water. This system is especially vital for our Japanese Cold Brew Iced Coffee units.
Japanese Cold Brew Coffee units will not only be beautiful in our space, but will also produce an iced coffee that is almost acid free in terms of taste with a very pleasing creaminess and good viscous body. This brewing system produces a high concentrated elixir is nearly twice the strength of a normal hot-brewed drip coffee.
When you support our Kickstarter, you will be helping us meet our scheduled opening date of mid-August 2013.
Money beyond our goal...
Fifteen thousand dollars is just part of the funds needed to open a Café of this quality. From the mechanics of plumbing and electrical work, to the textured wallpaper and walnut tables, right on down to list equipment purchases, it all adds up. Simply, our goal is to open Bex Cafe without the stress of unmanageable debt and for this reason we ask for your patronage.
All contributions exceeding our minimum Kickstarter funding goal will further assist in our build-out and equipment purchases. We want Bex Café (gluten free) to embrace all that we believe in regarding high quality, sustainable, organic foods and with your help we will accomplish this goal.
Risks and challenges
There is the slim chance that the build out process may take a bit longer than anticipated, however we are on track now and plan to stay that way.
