A 2.5D fast paced action shooter for iOS, Android and Windows phones & tablets.

‘Skies of Fire’ is an action packed game that will test your reflexes. Fly your dragon, dodge incoming fire and retaliate with a range of destructive weapons.

  • The player takes control of a rider and his dragon. Using one of two control schemes (virtual joystick/touchscreen) the user flies the dragon. Tapping anywhere on the screen fires the rider’s weapon in the direction of the tap. The dragon can also fire its projectile in the direction it’s flying.
  • The player takes on enemies of varying strength, from archers and catapults to other dragon riders.
  • Enemies can be poisoned and/or set on fire, but watch out; certain enemies can do the same to you. On fire? Do a barrel roll! 
  • Enemies drop ‘souls’, a highly sought after commodity. Merchants exchange souls for new weapon unlocks, weapon/player stat upgrades and purchasing ammo. 
  • Each campaign level consists of multiple waves/sections. Once an area is cleared of all enemies the player moves on to the next area. 
  • Fly high, dive down and combine a barrage of deadly arrows with the dragon’s attack for ultimate carnage.

 5 modes

  • Campaign Mode:  20 levels 
  • Survival Mode­: Waves of progressively harder enemies mixed with boss waves
  • Mini-Games: A collection of random challenges to play through 
  • Mission Editor: Choose from any of the campaign maps, set how many waves there’ll be, select number of enemies per wave, select which specific enemies you want to fight against and off you go!
  • Model Viewer: View every 3D model made for the game and see detailed information about them

Currently there are 10 weapons. Some weapons do area-of-effect damage (e.g. explosive) whilst others do damage over time (e.g. poison/fire).

Fully Upgradable Weapon/Player Stats

Now they have their eyes set on your homeland. You must stand up to these ruthless thugs and defend yourself and your people from annihilation.

We’re all Game Development University graduates and met during our studies:

  • Steve works his magic using his graphics tablet and makes fancy lookin’ game stuff. He also creates levels, paints them and populates them with game assets. He graduated with a Professional Masters In Games Development from Abertay University. 

Favourite Games: Crash Bandicoot 2, Cannon Spike and Tomb Raider. 

  • Burak started gaming so young that his sessions of Looping on the ColecoVision were interrupted by potty training. He now spends all day grunting while smashing his keyboard until stuff happens on screen, then he is pleased and settles down.

Favourite Games: Rocksmith 2014, Massive Action Game (MAG), Bioshock 1, Halo 1 & 2. 

  • In-between power naps, Jack-of-all-trades Samson rigs and animates all the models, codes, finds the required programs and tools for any and all jobs, deals with the office network when the network decides it’s worked long enough and deserves a break, takes care of the website, and a bunch of other technical stuff that we don’t really understand. 

Favourite Games: Final Fantasy VII, Tales Of Graces F, Tekken Tag Tournament 2, Dust: An Elysian Tale, Kingdom Hearts: Birth By Sleep.

Up to this point we’ve been able to develop an alpha build but we lack the funds to purchase the necessary software licenses and support our basic living needs. We’d love to polish the game and add all the awesome features we have in mind, as well as the ones outlined in the stretch goals. With your support we can make this happen!

We need to take into account the cut Kickstarter (5%) and Paypal (5%) take. We also need to deduct tax (20%) on top of it all. The majority of the money will go towards paying for licenses (like multiple copies of Unity Pro & additional Unity packages), programming and art.

Although we’ve dabbled in sound and music production, we’d like to hire a professional to make us some kickass music and sound FX.

  • Deformable terrain – Explosive projectiles blow holes in the terrain
  • Destructible buildings and objects – Objects (buildings, catapults, barrels, lamps, water fountains etc) all break apart into many pieces when blown up with explosives
  • In-game Challenges & Improved AI – Complete a large list of 30-50 challenges to earn extra souls (e.g. Get 10/100/1000 Dragon Kills, Kill 10/100/1000 Enemies with Explosive Weapons, Play a Total of 1/5/10 Hours etc). AI: Enemies respond to danger more realistically, enemy dragons react to you in a larger variety of ways
  • Player Customisation, iOS gamepad support & Ouya Support – Customise the look of the dragon and the rider with different armour/colours. Support for the Ouya as well as gamepad support for iOS.
  • More campaign and survival levels, more mini-games, improved particle and special FX.
  • Multiple playable characters, all with different stats – Choose from a variety of different dragons, each with their own unique stats.
  • Level editor – Create new levels, modify terrain, populate the scene with buildings and other models, set spawn points for enemies and have a blast!
  • Voice acted, in-engine cutscenes – In the same vein as the Kickstarter animation, fully animated in-engine cutscenes, all fully voiced
  • Next-Gen Console & PC support – PS4 and Xbox One support as well as a PC port
  • Local Co-Op and Multiplayer – Team up with a friend and take on the campaign together or fight against enemies in fully customisable co-op missions. Then, battle it out against each other in Versus mode (you set the rules: Kill Limit/Time Limit/Limited Weapons etc), add bots to spice up the multiplayer experience. 
  • Global Co-Op/Multiplayer – Just like the local multiplayer, battle alongside or against players from all over the world.

Risks and challenges Learn about accountability on Kickstarter

As with all software development, unexpected problems may occur. We’ve taken this into account and allowed ourselves a little extra time for contingencies. We promise to work tirelessly to iron out all bugs and hit the release date.

If we hit additional stretch goals, development time may increase. In the event that a stretch goal can't be completed in time for the projected release date, we will release the core game with all the extras we've been able to complete in time and then release the additional stretch goal contents in an update shortly after.

Although we aim to test on as many devices as possible, we are limited to how many devices we have access to. The code is written to adapt to any screen resolution and device, so in the unlikely event that we come across bugs for specific devices, let us know and we’ll get them fixed.

FAQ

  • We’ve decided to end the campaign early and re-launch at a later date.

    1) The campaign was hastily put together, using gameplay from an early alpha build, which is not as impressive as the build we have now
    2) No promotion was done prior to the launch and very little after the launch, which led to very little exposure for the campaign
