Well you've helped us blast through all the stretch goals and then some. Thank you all for helping us bring this classic back into print. I know both Ernie and Luke are very excited!
Ernest Gary Gygax Jr. and Luke Gygax's
Preludes sets the stage for Gaxmoor and the world of Aihrde. It has adventuring material, fiction and other sundries. All these will be fleshed out and expanded. To give you a taste, here is the tale of the Haunted Valley.
19K Behind the Curtain
Stephen Chenault pulls back the curtain from way back in 2001 and relates the store of how the contracts with Gary Gygax, Ernie and Luke Gygax, Aihrde, the Canting Crew and Gaxmoor all came tumbling together!
18K Luke Gygax
Long long ago, when the Lost City was first explored there were many teasers about the Undercaverns. But no one knew exactly what. But in conversations with Luke, it seems he's a bit anxious to explore them....his adventure, assuming we hit the 18k goal, will be a nice intro piece to what lies beneath the Lost City of Gaxmoor!
Help us take a peek into what lies beneath....

10K Secret Door Open
You've just opened the secret door! Trollzah. Now begins an ever greater treatment of Gaxmoor. We'll select three of the more prominent Areas in Gaxmoor and create Isometric maps for them. These maps, rendered by Del Teigeler will include room contents as well, making the CK's job all the easier. Also, we'll incorporate Jake Parker and Sean King's ideas, allowing for plenty of room for CK notes. The below sample is what we have in mind:
NEXT GOAL 11K
We've hit the hard cover. We've hit the 18 x 22 inch map sewn in the book. We've hit the additional intro adventure. Now we are up against the Map Book! Your going to want this. With a separate book the CK/GM can access maps far easier and use them as displays during game play. And, it puts us one step closer to the Isometric Map of Gaxmoor!
Though all these maps are slated to be redone, this is a sample map form the original Gaxmoor and the treatment Peter Bradley is giving it:
Fifteen years ago Troll Lord Games -- fresh in the RPG market -- joined with Ernest Gary Gygax Jr. and his brother Luke Gygax, to bring to life their amazing city, The Lost City of Gaxmoor. The city, caught up in the ruins of time and under the heels of chaos, proved an instant hit and helped place TLG firmly in the RPG market.
Going out of print when TLG moved away from d20, the Lost City returned to the brothers Gygax, where it sat in quiet retirement, leaving only the memories of many blood-soaked adventure hours.
But now, after many years, the Lost City returns to the Troll Dens! This time, under the Castles & Crusades banner!
The Lost City unleashes all the wild imaginings of the brothers Gygax, bringing them to your gaming table! A seamless blend of the old world's iron grinding action and the Siege Engine, Gaxmoor promises an epic montage of wreck and ruin.
Introduction by Frank Mentzer!
FUNDING GOALS: The Lost City of Gaxmoor is a 120 page book, scheduled to release as a softcover book with the sprawling city map divided up into 8.5 x 11 sheets and set within the book. But it needs a far better treatment. TLG's goals with this are to bring it out in hardcover format and to release the city map in a full color, 18 x 22 inch poster. Our basic goal is to hit a hardcover book, but the stretch rewards will build the project into so much more!
Join us! Join the Fray! Bring The Lost City of Gaxmoor back to the gaming table in all the glory the wealth of its adventure deserves!
EARLY BIRD: THE EARLY BIRD OPTION IS CLOSED. The first 187 backers have locked in the EARLY BIRD. Trollzah! All early bird backers receive a soft cover edition of the Lost City of Gaxmoor. You must back the 25.00 pledge level or above. This copy ships with your kickstarter package unless you are at GARY CON VII. All Early Bird backers receive a digital copy at Kickstarter close.
NOTE ON PLEDGE LEVELS, ADD ONS and STRETCH REWARDS: In previous Kickstarters, we've counted a pledger's add ons toward their total Pledge Level. So if you pledge 25.00 and bought 25.00 dollars in Add Ons, we counted your over all Pledge as a 50 Pledge Level. If this edged you toward the next pledge level, you earned the Stretch Rewards from that higher level. Sadly, this policy, as cool as it is, has wreaked havoc in the Dens. It's caused payment confusion, mis-shipped orders, delayed orders and overall frustration from the pledger and hair pulling frustration from the shipping department here. So with that in mind, we are, sadly, going to place the emphasis on your pledge level. If you pledge at Pledge Level X, we will only ship the Stretch Rewards applied to that Pledge Level. If you want the next Pledge Level's Stretch Rewards, bumping up your Pledge Level is easy enough. The add on list will be included in the Kickstarter, but only as an add on. Apologies all around for the confusion, delay and changes.

Risks and challenges
Large books such as this one are hard to print and bind and we have to choose our printers with care.
One of the greatest challenges we face is creating such a large book and maintaining the quality of the printing and binding. In order to do this, we must find a printer with the knowledge and capabilities to execute a book of this size and have it look polished and professional, something we take great pride in. This will cost more than usual printing so Kickstarter becomes essential in raising enough capital to give this book the quality it demands and deserves.
We are confident that with a successful Kickstarter we can bring this product to the world not only as a great resource, but also as a great looking book.Learn about accountability on Kickstarter
