All funds raised with this Kickstarter will go directly towards Gothamist for staffing, technology and operations.
The first $100,000 will help revive the website and bring back our popular newsletter. It will also enable us to preserve the Gothamist and DNAinfo archives.
If we're able to raise more funds, Gothamist will be able to deepen its coverage areas, including more of the “Best Of” features, more photography, and overall more focus on areas important to New Yorkers.
Editor-in-Chief John Del Signore; Editorial Director Jen Carlson; Features Editor Chris Robbins; and Arts & Culture Editor Ben Yakas are right here, right now, working with us on the relaunch! Also, Ad Operations Manager Mei Lee has rejoined.
We’re also working with past Gothamist contributors on new stories and features.
Gothamist founders Jen Chung and Jake Dobkin are also part of the team as New York Public Radio employees.
When Gothamist was shut down, so many readers asked what they could do to help. WNYC was fortunate to receive the necessary funding to acquire the Gothamist assets through philanthropic support. Now that Gothamist is a part of the WNYC family, we are investing in staffing, technology and operations to relaunch Gothamist and bring back the coverage you love as quickly and robustly as possible. The Kickstarter funding will greatly support these efforts, and this campaign gives our fans a way to participate in the rebuilding Gothamist from day one.
WNYC is an independent non-profit media organization, and as with any WNYC show or project, Gothamist will be funded through a combination of member support, philanthropy, and sponsorship. As our readers, we rely on – and are grateful for! -- your support.
Gothamist is now a part of member supported New York Public Radio, which is a registered 501c3. Your pledge is tax deductible, minus the value and/services of your selected reward and credit card processing and Kickstarter fees. At the end of the campaign, when we reach our goal and credit card transactions are completed, we will send out tax acknowledgement letters.
