Olympic Weightlifting is an incredible sport, pushing the limits of human strength and athleticism, but is nearly unknown in America.
Do you love the snatch? How about the clean and jerk? Don't worry, these aren't dirty phrases. These are the two lifts that comprise Olympic Weightlifting. You know, those guys in the Olympics that throw an incredible amount of weight over their heads?
If you've not familiar with the sport of Olympic Weightlifting or its star athletes, that's because in the United States it is overshadowed by other more lucrative sports, like football and basketball. But in most countries around the world, Olympic Weightlifting is revered, and its top athletes faces are plastered all over billboards and cereal boxes.
The 2012 Summer Olympics in London are quickly approaching. It is our desire to produce a documentary about the top Olympic Weightlifters in the United States as they compete to earn a spot to compete on the world platform. Unfortunately, only one American weightlifter will be able to compete in London, but the competition for that coveted position is going to be epic! Along the way, we are going to document how these amazing athletes train, eat, and live their lives as elite contenders in an under-appreciated sport.
Along the way we'll be posting updates and footage to our website www.fitr.tv, where you can stay up to date with our progress on this film, as well as other fitness related videos and our podcast, Barbell Shrugged (http://www.fitr.tv/category/barbell-shrugged/).
