“Where I Go When I Sleep” is a hand-drawn story about a little girl who travels to magical places in her dreams.
Inspired by A. A. Milne (author of Winnie the Pooh), who wrote stories inspired by and for his son, I decided to create a beautiful story book world for my children based on them and their little world.
I wrote and illustrated this book, with the help of my colorist husband, while my daughter was 2-3 years old. Though I wrote it for her, I wanted to make it a perfect, imaginative book for any little girl her age. It encourages the cultivating and stretching of their minds’ capacity for imagination at this age, and helps dreaming at night become a magical adventure.
I plan to make one book per year, following the growth of my three children. The books’ content, art and story will mature with them but never lose the simple beauty of dreams and childhood. I want to make these books available to any child or parent who are seeking out sincere beauty and imagination for their growing minds.
We have finished the book and it is being published by Varida P&R. We have a proof copy and everything is ready to go.
We are running this Kickstarter in order to bring awareness to this project, and fundraise publisher costs and our first case of books.
Reward: Personalized Artwork
In addition to pre-ordering the book, we have a few special rewards. One is a personalized colored drawing of your child in the art style of your book, like the below example.
There are some other rewards, which are explained on the right.
Risks and challenges
The risks in this project are low since the book is finished and we have a publisher secured already. It should all go smoothly.
However, a delay could arise if we receive a large number of personalized artwork, or even signed orders.Learn about accountability on Kickstarter
