Because of your overwhelming support, in just 17 days, we reached the Kickstarter goal and now with only 44 MINUTES  to go, all we can say is

THANK YOU!

Keep pledging right up to the final minutes. There is still a need when we start educational distribution but with the assistance of Kickstarter, we now have the funds to complete our interviews, edit the film and to compose original music.

We still intend to make the Japanese version, complete the website and kickstart educational distribution in Japan and the United States.

When making a pledge via Kickstarter ends, please contact us at the website.

Thanks to all who pledged and continued to spread the word, via email, tweets, links to Facebook and LinkedIn and good old fashioned telephone calls and word of mouth.

Stay in touch via the website as the premier in Richmond VA will be this fall.

Most of all, keep LIVING YOUR DREAM and remember "only what we give, remains our own"    Taylor Anderson '04

This film is a story about Taylor Anderson and all the young people who travel the world trying to make a difference. Taylor was an extraordinary American who dedicated herself to teaching Japanese children, living her dream right up to the events of March 11, 2011. The earthquake and tsunami in Japan was a disaster that no one could have expected.  In my 21 years of working on Japan based projects, I had witnessed earthquakes, but never the devastation of a tsunami.

Taylor’s story came to me via the internet as stories from the areas that were affected began to be shared. I had met JET teachers in the course of my previous film work, so I knew the dedication and the hard work that goes into being an assistant English teacher, but there was something special about Taylor’s story that touched me.  A passion and zest for the people of Ishinomaki where she was based, that not all teachers feel while in Japan. I began to seek a way to reach out to Taylor’s family and share my interest. I am so humbled to have their consent to tell Taylor’s story.

Your support will not only allow me to complete this film about the extraordinary life story of a young American woman, it will also help celebrate the hard work and sacrifices of all the English teachers in Japan from around the world. Individuals who share their culture with the children they teach and who take away incredible life lessons experienced in the culture of Japan.

Please join me in bringing this film to life.  Taylor’s legacy that continues in Japan and the United States will provide encouragement and opportunities for young people in both countries to look beyond the boundaries of their community, seeking to know more about the world and how interconnected we are.

I am truly grateful for your support.  Thank you.

HOW DOES KICKSTARTER WORK?

Kickstarter is an all-or-nothing approach to fundraising for creative projects.

WHAT WILL MY MONEY DO?

Our current pledges are enough to shoot the remaining interviews in Japan and the US and edit the film.

Additional pledges will help us:

  • Compose original music.
  • Make a Japanese version of the film
  • Build a great interactive website
  • Distribute the program to educational institutions in the US and Japan.

I'M READY TO DO THIS.  HOW CAN I START?

First, thank you!  You can start right now (from $1 on up), by clicking BACK THIS PROJECT in the upper right hand corner.  But don't forget the rewards!
