About this project
My name is Theory Stringer and I am a product developer and inventor of the patent pending paper towel protective shied “Scutum.” It takes two hands to remove paper from a roll of paper towels with most paper towel holders, one to hold the roll steady, and the other to pull and remove the paper. Unless the hand holding the roll is clean and germ free, it will soil the area that is touched and thus creating the possibility of spreading germs and bacteria.
Scutum provides a protective shield for paper towel against germs and bacteria from contaminated hands. This protected cap is easily put in into the center tube of a roll of paper towels and the roll used in most vertical paper towel holders.
Prototypes made from fiberglass reinforced plastic
Scutum is designed to to be use with two types of up-right paper towel holders.
1.) Those with an ornament or knob.
2.) Those without an ornament or knob. Type B.)
Risks and challenges
I believe the biggest risk or challenge we face is getting the production molds tooled within the time frame needed to meet projected start-up, manufacture, and shipping dates. However we have contacted a local plastic mold injection maker and manufacturer whose is able to;
*produce the molds,
*manufacture the parts
*package the product
Having all phases of the project done locally gives us greater control should problems arise. This also gives us added assurance of completing and delivering the product on time.
Should our campaign exceed our anticipation, we will not expand our goals of manufacturing and distribution of Scutum such that they interfere with fulfilling our commitments to those who have helped to make the project possible.Learn about accountability on Kickstarter
