I woke up today and thought wouldn't be it be fantastic.

If today I UNLOCKED PLASTIC.

So I did!

That's right, dear backers, I've gone rogue. I'm breaking protocol. The excitement has gone to my head. I can't wait any longer. It's gotta happen. I need to do it now. As of this moment, The Agents just went 100% PLASTIC.

I know you have all eagerly been hoping to hit the Stretch Goal, and I'm confident that we're going to hit $222k in the next 6 days, but I decided that I didn't want to make you wait one more day.

As we enter the final few days of the campaign I wanted to send all 5,000 (!!) of you a huge message of gratitude for your support, so whether we hit $222k or not, I wanted to show you how appreciative I am for you pledging to help make The Agents come to life. So letting you know now that this game is going plastic is my way of thanking you all for being a part of this.

Tell your friends. Tell your neighbors. Hell, tell your enemies! S**t just got real.

For a sneak peak of some shuffling action, on some test plastic cards, get a load of the video below.

Until next time, dear friends.

Saar

Thanks for unlocking the plastic cards early! Brand new backer at the Bureau level here as well!

I just hope the illustration won't rub off from the plastic after 10000 shuffles... let's hope it's durable.

The game sounds very fresh and interesting, as are the stretch goals. Good work, Saar!

Brand new backer at the Bureau level because of this update. Good luck!

That's heartening to hear it's not like the Gloom cards.

Plastic is the way to go! I wish more card games were made out of plastic... Is this the same kind of plastic that's used for poker decks?

    6. Saar Shai 3-time creator on

The delivery won't be affected by plastic cards as I've been working with the printer to get plastic ready all along, as well as normal cards, in case we would need them!

I can also mention that this plastic isn't like Gloom plastic, in my opinion. The plastic feels....fantastic!

@Brad - I dislike sleeves even more. They make the stacks too high and everything slides around.

We have played with plastic cards before, Gloom, and do not like the feel of plastic. They slide around when stacked and we do not like shuffling them.

But I know we're in the minority, so voicing my opinion won't have much weight, but it feels better to say my piece so I can let it go. :-)

I went ahead and upgraded my package to include all the expansions cause of this. Thank man.

This is great, but a word of caution - a lot of Kickstarters get burned by biting off more than they can chew with stretch goals. It's a noble cause that you want to improve the product, but please be sure you can deliver on promises. Congratulations on a highly successful Kickstarter campaign.

don't forget to +1 the app to help it's search ranking

blast... the app is mostly empty so far :(
hopefully this afternoon the card descriptions will be there.

      Nice!

Are backers of the higher tiers able to view the expansion PnPs to help us decide which expansions to get?

    15. greaseDonkey on

I just increased my pledge to include all expansions, because of this great news.

While I'm at it, I would like to know I this stretch goal will have any impact on the targeted delivery date?

The only way for you take any more money from me is if you had specially designed sleeves for the cards. But please do not do this..... then again...

OMG awesome!!! Another game I can play at the pub with "nacho fingers"!

    23. Jeremy Espinosa on

There is a reason Kem Cards cost about 5x more than standard Bicycle cards. Because the quality is way better and more durable. I can understand if you are a magician and planning to do sleight of hand, you might want standard paper cards. But for a game that you want to last you for years and withstand parties where there are people eating and drinking while playing with your deck......plastic is the best way to go. So happy you unlocked this and to anyone complaining they still want paper, I suggest you just print it on paper stock with the PnP version.

I've never played with plastic cards. I'm excited to see how this all turns out. Thanks for unlocking the stretch goal!

    25. Brad McKenzie on

@ Sarah - you could always sleeve your plastic cards, if you prefer that traditional card-in-sleeve feel...

    26. Porthoscrx on

I think this is great news as I was hoping to hit this tier. For those worried about the plastic I wanted to weigh in on the quality, I have a couple of games that use them and they really are great. The print quality is as vibrant and sharp as any card stock but the durability is on another level. I like the feel of the card stock more but they get dog eared quickly and there is always 'that' person eating crisps and using his greasy fingers and (oh god that makes me cringe so hard).

I would like the card stock ones for the feel in the hand but id take plastic so I can play this game 10 years (or more) down the line.

    27. Hobbes on

That is seriously cool. Thanks! Now I just have one thing to to all backers and potential backers. Get me the Safe House! I want Safe House!! This game must be perfect and complete in its plastic glory ^_^

First, I was intrigued by plastic cards. Then I played Gloom and shuffled those cards. Ever since, I've been peeking every few days hoping we hit the 222 mark. Thanks for making this happen either way.

For those who aren't sure about them, my only complaint is that they can be a little slippery all stacked up. But they're 1000% better than any card in a sleeve. Color me super excited to get a durable, spill-proof, beautiful product that I can play with for years.

    29. Peter Allan on

I think that there's only one way this game can get any better: instead of cards, we all get actual, living agents..........

    30. Brad McKenzie on

Nicely played, sir. Pledge has been upgraded from PnP level to everything in plastic. You have my thanks and my compliments on a very well-run Kickstarter campaign.

Drastic, but fantastic, sir. I just threw this to facebook to see if I can get a few more people in. This game deserves to hit that stretch goal no matter what.

You just made this (not so) little boy very, very happy! :)
Saar, you are just incredible. We never asked (or would've asked) you to do such a thing as unlocking a tier we've not yet crossed - since each and every backer understands the costs involved. But you've done something amazing here - and as proof, look at how happy you've made the majority of those who backed this project.
You are amazing, really am. Thank you for everything so far, and everything yet to come. :)

    47. Shawn George on

I think that most of the people who are skeptical about plastic cards have never used actual quality plastic cards before. Seriously...pick up a pack of Bicycle Prestige, COPAG or KEM playing cards and shuffle and play with them. I have yet to meet anybody that's played with COPAGs and then wanted to go back to paper cards. They shuffle better, they don't split or chip, they hold their shape, and the graphics don't wear out nearly as quickly. Card sleeves suck, and plastic cards help ensure that we won't have to use them for this game.
