Sneak peeks and new artwork

Dear Backers,

Well, the great news is that we slammed straight into our $130k Stretch Goal and kept on going. So Danny and I are going to be designing you some ultra-cool KS-exclusive Intel Point cards. Danny is going to make a start with the sketches and I'll share his work soon.

New artwork
Speaking of Danny, I want to show off some his glorious inked artwork for the Mission: Critical expansion pack. I know you've enjoyed seeing the step by step development of his work as much as I have. Feast your eyes on these;

*Chosen Few and Codebreaker are actually part of the "renovated" base-set, but Danny created new art both.

This tier is not a spoof
You remember that I mentioned the 'spoofspansion' last time. Well, to tie in with that special expansion, I've created a new customized Agent tier so that some of you die-hard fans can go down in history as a special spoof Agent*. Take a look on the right and snap up an empty slot while you still can.

Fancy Box Update
I know that you are all waiting anxiously for news of the fancy-pants box that's in the works. I'm days away from adding it to the 'add-on' menu and am just getting final details on prices, quantities etc. What I can say is the following. Magnet closure. Spot UV Printing. In-built stage. *gasp*

Special Agents
I have a tendency to give away classified intel before I'm supposed to, but dang if I'm not about to do it again. I've mentioned having a couple of tricks up my sleeve, and my latest reveal is a brand new, fully finished expansion of Agents to add to the game in the next few days. So my question is, do you want me to introduce it to the line-up? Do you? Do you?**

Meet and Greet!
We had a great gaming session this afternoon in London town. Thanks so much to everyone who came down to play The Agents, meet with me and chat about the campaign and the game! The fact that I lost twice didn't bother me at all (hmpf).

I also want to invite any of my Israeli backers to join me at DraconiCon on Thursday 8th August. I'll be giving a talk at 9.30am (and possibly one at 6pm) and will be available to play the game with anyone who likes!

Hope you all had a great weekend and more news to come soon!
Saar

*After the two rounds of voting have ended and I've heard what spoof Agents you guys most want in the deck, I'll finalize the line up and will then work with Danny to match the 'Spoof Agent' backers up to the Agent that best suits them!

**If you opt for this expansion, once I introduce it, it will mean adjusting your pledges to include this as an add-on or switching up tiers if I create a new 'Fullest Package' tier with all 4 expansions! I'll talk you through it when the time comes!

Not to dictate the project, just a suggestion...plastic cards even amongst my Backer Friends, doesn't seem to be popular.

How about it turns into this new expansion instead?

I also agree with everyone regarding the pledge levels and having to pony up to get more. I'm glad to be part of this kickstarter and have the santa pledge, but it's really hard to keep a straight face when you mention "believe me, it's not about the money" but say it's additional cost for the new expansion, the new upgraded box, etc... because it's definitely about the money. And it's definitely fine to be in for that, but please don't tell us that it's not if it's an extra $5 for the new expansion. Great we broke a stretch goal, now we all get a new expansion that we can buy.

Hope that doesn't sound like a rant. Still really happy to be part of this :)

I've got to agree with Patrick et al. When I selected my pledge level, I did so in order to get the ”full game”. I had the impression that the 3 expansions + the base set constituted the full game because there wasn't a clear indication at that point that those 3 were just the 3 announced so far and that there were more coming. So I think it's a justifiable critique to say that my pledge is no longer getting what I had the impression it was getting when I made it.

Furthermore, since the distinctions between add one, expansions, and stretch goals is ultimately arbitrary and at your discretion, I can't help but feel increasingly uncertain about what my pledge actually gets me.

Note that I'm not saying you did anything wrong. I'm just saying that the original presentation along with the way changes have happened have created this feeling of uncertainty, which - as an investor - I'm unhappy about,

Sorry whining...it is just how I feel about it.

I planned to pay X amount to get the whole game, and now I won't but may have to pay more for that.

    5. Patrick Dignam on

      Saar, thanks for your response.

It's not an issue about being overwhelmed by choices, it's about value. For a card game that is half of Dominion, I am already paying the same price. Do I think your game is cool, yeah, but like a movie, I can wait for it to come out on video.

      I am not winning

    6. Saar Shai 3-time creator on

@Patrick @Mikko I don't want you to feel overwhelmed by the options and choice, so of course you are free to select your tier or pledge and leave it at that. Many of the backers are keen to have options, variety and the fullest possible bundle of expansions, stretch goals and add-ons, so I'm pleased to have some tricks up my sleeves to keep everyone busy and happy. Believe me, this isn't about getting a few more $$ out of my backers, it's about adding more to the experience of playing The Agents and being an awesome backer.

But of course there's no obligation whatsoever to opt-in for anything that you don't want. It's entirely up to you to pick and choose. It's also worth noting that once the game hits retail channels, prices are likely to go up, so lots of backers like trying to make a saving by getting in on the act early on KS.

Hope that explains why I'm rolling out the last couple of expansions and add-ons now before we hit the home stretch!

    7. Mikko Kynen on

I gotta agree with Patrick Dignam, the expansions and whatnot are getting to be too much. Just leave it as is now, I can buy any other extras/expansions when I finally have the game in hand and I've tested it...

    8. Dan Gravitch on

Come to Comic Con in NYC to promote and play, I will be there. You will do this....

"**If you opt for this expansion, once I introduce it, it will mean adjusting your pledges to include this as an add-on or switching up tiers if I create a new 'Fullest Package' tier with all 4 expansions! I'll talk you through it when the time comes!"

OK for example Dominion ***500*** cards - $45 retail --- I can get it $30 new.

Currently I am @ the $33 pledge amount for this game to get the full boat.

While I like new stuff being considered Saar, I feel like this is ummm sliding in to the WTF zone for a ***card*** game especially since your kicking ass with funding. Kapeesh?

@ Matt S, you bet something is going to happen to them but only after the project is funded and they have paid their due. 8-)

    11. Dan Gravitch on

Artwork is very Mike Mignola like...i like it!

    12. Patrick Dignam on

Please make sure the box is big enough for all the cards and some additional expansions.

For the point cards...our group always run out of the ones and twos...thanks!

@Jez, oh well, someone's gotta be on our front at the Portugal beach.

I'm sorry I missed it. I would have been there, but I'm on the beach in Portugal at the moment (such a hard life).

I'll get you next time, @Lloydy! Thanks for coming. We had a great time.

    16. Lloydy Boy on

Cheers for letting us play your game today, Saar! I was surprised how well it worked with four players. On paper, it looked very much a two-player game to me so I'm glad to see it in action.

Sorry about beating you in the first game, too. What can I say, luck runs in my veins.

    17. J. Cranfill on

This is turning out to be an amazingly well managed and creative Kickstarter campaign. Not to mention the kick-ass game! Kudos to Danny and Saar and everyone else involved.

    18. Matt S on

Anyone else wondering if the 2 backers who beat Saar are going to come down with food poisoning or some other mysterious illness and/or calamity.

    20. AMC on

Yeah! More bang for the buck! :P

@Kelly and @Aaron this fancy-pants box is a special add-on that backers can choose to pay for, when the time comes. The Stretch goal box is an improved basic box that all backers get.

    22. Ahmad Khan on

More agents, Yes for all that is holy Yes!

    23. Aaron Jolliffe on

so, this fancy box... that's for all backers receiving at least the base set?

    24. Paul and Kelly Scott on

@Saar, is this the stretch goal box unlocked at $40k or a different and cooler box?

    25. Matt S on

      Great news on all fronts.
Love the artwork by Danny and can't wait to see more information on the new expansion.

is there a rough e.t.a on when the survey will be complete, so we can get a better list/idea of which agents will be available in that set and for who we could possibly be drawn as.

Lastly, loving the details shared on the add on box.
