Her job was simple. Keep an eye on him. Simple, yes. Easy - not for a second. This person of interest was as elusive as he was dangerous. Can't keep too far from him. Can't get too close.

She couldn't get a routine out of him. He didn't have one. People like him never do. They cannot afford to be predictable. So she had to become his ghost, his shadow, following in his wake, copying his moves. She tracked from a distance, then pursued.

He did have desires, though. He couldn't help it. And she knew what those were. They would be the end of him. And on that day it wasn't any different. He had to get his fix and she was right behind him.

Unmistakable in his walk, and by the back of his neck, which she had come to know so well. He tried to blend in, but she was smarter. She mimicked his pace, observing from a safe range. She could take him down now if she wanted to, if she was allowed.

But she wasn't as smart as she thought she was. He was taking too long in there today. Only by a few minutes, but she knew that something was wrong. As she barged into the well hidden back entrance her cover was blown. By the time she'd reached the third floor, he was gone. Halfway across town. Vanished.

Hi gang,

I hope you've been keeping well! I'm happy to bring you a few pieces of information today, all of which should help spur us on towards our next stretch goal. I'd love to give you guys some KS exclusive point cards!

We'll start today with our newest add-on....T-SHIRTS!

I've designed a limited line-up for t-shirts to give you a taste of things to come. As always, I'd love to hear your suggestions and shout-outs for designs, captions, Agents, layouts etc that you'd like on your t-shirts. I'll finalize the options towards the end of the campaign, and will present the final designs for you to choose from. I'll then get your selection via the survey at the close of the campaign.

As usual, just up your pledge amount to add t-shirts to your bundle. Feel free to use the comments section in the update or the main page to start getting creative with ideas for the t-shirts!

The Agents salute Game Salute!
The second piece of news is something that's been in the works for a few weeks, and I'm personally really excited about planning for the future of The Agents. I've just signed a distribution deal with Game Salute* to distribute and manage The Agents after Kickstarter closes. I'll still be in charge of the game and its development, but it means that I'll have the professional, experienced support of an established game company to help me distribute, sell and fulfill orders post-KS. It will free me up to carry on working on new expansions, modes of playing, the app and brand new game ideas as well!

The Agents storm London
And I also wanted to invite any London (UK) based backers to join me, my fiancee and some friends to play-test The Agents this coming Sunday. I'll be setting up camp at Leisure Games from 2.30pm on Sunday 3rd August, and would be so excited to see some of my UK-based backers for some games and Q+A about The Agents. If you're interested in coming, please comment or message me, so I know numbers!

The comments section has been blowing up recently with much talk of a 'spoofspansion' for The Agents. Some of the active backers have been angling for a fun, zany booster that introduces some riffs on some much loved fictional spy characters to the game, each with their own special command. This would be a small collection of Agents that people can add to their deck if they like. How could I refuse such a fun idea? My buddies over at The Kickstarter Awesome List have created a poll so you can help let me know which Agents you want to make it into the pack, which will be available soon as an add-on.

As ever, I've got more things cooking and I look forward to sending more news your way soon!

*I'll still be handling the production and fulfillment of the KS campaign, but will then hand the mantle on to Game Salute going forward. As the publisher, I will be producing the units/expansions etc for Game Salute, so my plan is for the future versions of the game to use the same manufacturer and materials as the KS campaign, so it all integrates well.

      Hey, Saar.
Thank you for this wickedawesomegreat campaign.
I will try to be there on Sunday. I would love to shake your hand and wish you well.

    5. Beast on

Game Salute handling the game after the KS is good incentive to buy before they have any part of this.

I would really have hated to drop my pledge, but would of in an instant if GS had got in on this.

    6. Odd Hackwelder on

T-shirts are nice. I agree with having them in all caps and adding the lines above and below like on the backer word. This is more identifiable with the brand and it won't look like it is floating. Also make it a little smaller , so it doesn't take away from the image. I really enjoy watching your progress, it is truly an inspiration! Good luck! Half a million?

    7. Saar Shai 3-time creator on

@Fuhnetik - not a bad idea with the orange shirts. well see about those.

      @Jean-Philippe - shipping's on us.

    8. Jean-Philippe Richer on

      Really like the T-Shirts !
No shipping fees for them ?

    9. Fuhnetik on

Those T-Shirts look really slick! I want to see "I've got your back" and "Watch My Back" in all caps like in the logo "THE AGENTS" or maybe with those designs on an orange shirt to match the logo color. Either way Dan's artwork looks amazing!

I really like the taglines you put on the shirts, normally I don't like Kickstarter shirts because it seems a little crass to have "I'm a backer" on a shirt, but these are much cooler!

    10. Saar Shai 3-time creator on

@MK Yup - we're looking to ship all the kit and caboodle from Israel

      @Sid thanks for commenting! Noted!

    11. Sid on

I'd like to see one with the front of #1 and back of #2. :)

      MK on

@Saar: just to confirm: will you be sending T-shirts from Israel? Or will also games/books/etc be shipped from there? Also, how do you know that there won't be any import taxes in the EU?

    13. Saar Shai 3-time creator on

      Oops. Sunday 4th August!

@Peter We're going to be shipping from Israel, so there shouldn't be any import tax. I'll also be marking the items as a gift, I believe. I'm going to finalize everything on this front in the next week or two and will confirm the process asap.

    14. Ian Harvey on

Is it Saturday 3rd August or Sunday 4th August?

Aww shoot. I'm all tied up this Sunday. Do you have plans to do some other events in or around London?

    17. Matt S on

Game Salute won't be involved in this KS campaign, or the fulfillment/shipping of it's rewards.

After this campaign and the KS rewards are shipped and The Agents starts being sold in retail, Game Salute will be handling the shipping/fulfillment responsibilities -- allowing Saar free time to work on expansions or possibly new game opportunities.

    18. hair10

I love the design for shirt #2 (simple small logo on chest, sexy agent and appropriate text on back)... any way we could get bigger pics of all the designs?

    19. James T S on

Hmm Maybe Ill need 2 Agents to cover my back! Mmhhhm Daaayyyum!

    20. Brian Oz

*whew* I thought Game Salute was going to fulfill our ks games. They're notorious for under packing games which damages them in transit. That's a red flag I often look for - if Game Salute is doing fulfillment then i will have a hard time backing. Glad you're doing it! All right - I can continue being excited about this project! :)

    21. James T S on

Im Not Fat! Im Fluffy... So sizes 2x 3x bigger?? And Cotton!

    22. Matthew White on

+1 To Cory's idea on the sniper shirt, I think it really fits so much better that way.

    23. Debra Robertson on

The t-shirts look great but I'm really disappointed to hear that you are working with Game Salute. They are currently *only* shipping their Kickstarter projects to the US, leaving the rest of the world looking in through the window at the fun and unable to join in. Also, I haven't been impressed with how they've handled an earlier Kickstarter I pledged for (when they were still shipping overseas). :-(

    24. Barry Hood on

Maybe if there was cake :P

Seriously though, I hope it goes amazingly well even if I'm gutted I can't be there!

    25. Saar Shai 3-time creator on

@Peter - it is still to be worked out, but at this point I'm open to suggestions.

    26. Saar Shai 3-time creator on

@Barry Haha. Fair enough. What about if we sang her happy birthday?

@Tompl What time do you move to Edinburgh? We'll have you on the road by 5pm!

    27. Barry Hood on

Hey Saar, believe me I'd love to but it's my gf's birthday and I definitely wouldn't make it out of that conversation alive :P

    28. Peter Sandbeck Nielsen

Hi Saar... wondering will the T-shirts be slim-fit or regular? From the image it seems to be both kinds.

    29. Tompl on

Oh no... I'm moving to Edinburgh on the 4th or I would have dropped by. Bah, worst luck!

    30. Cody Parcell on

I would love to see the sniper shirt with the text "I've got your back." To me, that seems more consistent with the theme of a BA sniper and I would definitely have to buy such a shirt. ^^

    31. Galit

Hey Saar .... can we pledge $70 and get 4 shirts? :)

    32. Matthew Power

You know Saar, after seeing the white shirt, I can't help but wonder if you could do something quite cool with the idea of "The Backer", assuming there's any space left on any given print sheet. The idea of an Agent whose role it is to provide financial backing and support would be fun, maybe as a KS promo. Plus, you could see if the artist could slip that Kickstarter-green colour into the art somewhere...

Just musing, really; I know you have a lot of work ahead of you, and that would only be more. Still, wanted to raise the idea.

    33. Saar Shai 3-time creator on

@Barry cancel your prior engagement. You need to be there ;-p

    34. Saar Shai 3-time creator on

I have always been totally insistent that I have complete creative control over The Agents. Be it the game mechanic, appearance, development and evolution, I've planned this game knowing that this game begins and ends with me.

That said, after Kickstarter I do need a way to distribute and retail the game worldwide, as many of you have pointed out! From my research and experience of dealing with Game Salute, I'm confident that they have a great network of distribution partners (some of whom I've spoken to personally) and they will ably manage the retail and customer service side of the game from 2014 onwards.

Thanks for believing in my ability to deliver this game to you. And thanks for all your feedback.

    35. Ahmad Khan on

@Saar: is it possible to have one done for black ops agent version of my self, no i am not a narcissist I want it for my beautiful wife so she can something to brag about at the next gals night.

    36. ✩Don E✩

Your the Boss Mr. Saar Shai............Most of the games I support have NOT been from GameSalute. Reason I rarely have found a game managed by GameSalute worth investing in. I am not saying their games are not fun or worth investing in but for me usually their titles do not fall into the same interests.

As long as it doesn't hinder the creative process or direction it should not be a problem. It sounds like it wont so we look forward to a great game Mr. Saar!!!

    37. Barry Hood on

I really wish I could make the London meet up but have prior plans, so I hope it goes really well and hopefully someone who does go along will be able to do a little write up so we know what we missed :)

    38. Matt S on

I've seen complaints about Game Salute (from a Kickstarter perspective only) on several different campaigns. Be it issues with their pledge manager, to just issues with the way they ran campaigns, etc.

Since Saar has said this deal only affects fulfillment/shipping of The Agents AFTER the Kickstarter campaign is over I have no issues with this.

This should also IMO go a long way towards easing fears of those concerned due to the ringbow situation. Having a signed distribution deal with a known vendor is a huge plus.

    39. Missing avatar

      Anthony Viera on

I think I can speak for quite a few potential backers (at least the ones voicing concerns on BGG) that the Game Salute distribution deal isn't quite what people who questioned the integrity of this project were looking for. With the creator's previous project still in limbo, a distribution deal that encompassed kickstarter fulfillment would go a long ways toward removing skepticism.

I'm still on board, but I also remain on the fence.

    40. Kosongz on

@smottz check out the comments for Zpocalypse , pixel Lincoln , and some of their past projects.

    41. Smottz on

What's wrong with Game Salute for future projects? Judging by the few comments, they seem to have a poor reputation. Are you all pointing to a single project that went awry, or are you claiming that they are consistently prone to problems?

    42. Saar Shai 3-time creator on

@Jim - I'm going to manage the fulfillment of the Kickstarter campaign, so worry not.

    43. Kristian

@Saar, I have to say I'm not a huge game salute fan from other KS projects, as long as you've got it through production/shipping for this KS project I'm okay with the plan.

      George Mork on

Oh wow, something's happening in London.

I may come along if I can!

    45. Justin Lane on

So we won't have to deal with Game Salute in our fulfillment? If that's the case, I'm ok with this.

    46. Missing avatar

      Jim Wuerch

Oh, after reading the extra comment, if you doing the KS rewards, then all is right with the world. :)

    47. Pachro on

Game Salute, you say? Sounds good to me.

    48. Missing avatar

      Jim Wuerch

Oh god, not Game Salute for a pledge manager. I've had to use that a few times now, and it was a terrible and confusing experience every time. (Go look at what people who backed Pixel Lincoln are dealing with)
I'll have to seriously consider waiting for retail rather than dealing with their crappy pledge manager again.
It's always messed up because they use the retail listings for kickstarter backers, so the dollar amounts do not line up if the kickstarters get a discount. So the fun is figuring out exactly what the right items are to pick out, given the link they give you doesn't take you to the page with the item you pledged...
