About this project
"No one can teach a man anything, you can only let him discover it within himself " Galileo
The Adarsh Alphons Projects, Inc is a full-scholarship, after-school and weekend visual arts education program for middle and high school art students. It is an invitation to the creative youth of New York City to explore art in a bold and unique way.
We want more young people to realize their unique vision, therefore we would like to offer our program to more students. We would like to hire several teachers and expand the program to those students who have expressed interest in our program: we want to make a difference to the lives of as many aspiring young artists as we can.
Our fundamentally different approach: Vision-Based Method, lets young people take learning into their own hands, while inspiring them with compelling work from artists around the globe. In our exploratory summer term, 10 students from New York City came together to explore Drawing and Painting, culminating in each of them creating a remarkable series of art work, which will be exhibited soon! (see Exhibition Invitation + Details below).
We've been doing all this out a temporarily borrowed space in Harlem (thank you Rev. Williams!). We would love to get a more reliable space where we can safely store our art materials, create and share our work with the community.
We ask you to take a look at we offer to students of our community. The lessons they get, in life and art, will help them grow in a multitude of ways and it’s something they will carry with them for the rest of their lives. After you see what we’re about make a decision as to whether or not you can contribute and help create an art-filled year for a child.
What we would use the funds for:
1. Hire great artists to introduce our students to art.
2. Buy art materials, cameras, computer programs etc.
3. Organize student exhibitions: framing, postcards etc.
4. Museum tickets.
