Shamsee’s a small time thief short on common sense. When he crosses The Blighter, a powerful gangster, Shamsee finds himself in debt and in trouble. While calling upon his resources and stumbling across luck both good and bad, the criminal underworld threatens to come out from under him. Business associates, old flames and new flings all want something from Shamsee, and he’s willing to give: for the right price. Songs are sung, jobs are blown and blood is spilled in the quest for A FISTFUL OF LUNARS.
Shamsee: A Fistful of Lunars is the brainchild of fantasy author, Tristan J Tarwater and illustrated by Adrian Ricker. A minor character in The Valley of Ten Crescents series, Shamsee takes the spotlight as his antics and decisions lead him from one bad situation to the next.
In the vein of other movies, books and comics featuring thieves and rogues, Shamsee sports adult themes such as sex, drug use and violence. It’s a light fantasy graphic novel with plenty of comedy and enough action to keep you turning the pages.
The goal of the Kickstarter is simple. The $2000 goes towards:
- Getting Shamsee into your hands! Fulfilling the rewards (print copies, art prints, etc.) and pay the taxes and fees that go along with it. If we hit our goal, we've got some great stretch goals to improve the quality of the print book AND provide some fun extra rewards.
- Providing Adrian and I with print copies to take to Rose City Comic Con in September and GeekGirlCon in October of this year.
- Paying Adrian and myself for our work. To say we've poured in hours of work is an understatement! The last year has been full of inking, writing, editing, consulting, flatting and more with Adrian doing all the art and lettering for the comic.
The comic is 100% complete so there will be almost no wait time between the end of the Kickstarter, sending it to print, and getting into your hands!
First Stretch Goal
$3,000 - Paper quality for the pages and the cover of the book are upgraded!
Second Stretch Goal
$4,000 - The Making Of! Character sketches, character bios, and other 'making of' goodies will be added to both print and digital copies of the comic.
Third Stretch Goal
$5,000 - Shamsee Paper Doll! Want to see what Shamsee looks like in underpants? One doll and two outfits, drawn by Adrian for your viewing pleasure!

Risks and challenges
The book is 100% done. The printer has already been chosen. We'll have a finished proof very soon. Tristan has run two successful Kickstarters in the past and is well aware of the issues that can pop up because of shipping.
The goal is to have all the books shipped out before GeekGirlCon in October; with over a month between the end of the KSer and GeekGirlCon, this should be doable.Learn about accountability on Kickstarter
