I am passionate about divination, the art of giving readings to oneself or another. All forms of art are treasures that I cannot live without. It brings me immense joy to blend these two passions in a form that others can benefit from. That is why I created Vision of the Muse, an oracle deck that can be used for divination.
Collaging is a practice that has become essential to my existence. I find it not only therapeutic, but meditative, and fulfilling. I source images from various places. There are many discarded paper items in this world, and I love to transform them and give them new life.
I began collaging this project in 2016, after completing my Tarot deck, The Lioness Oracle Tarot, which was a successfully funded Kickstarter campaign. I finished the 33 pieces of Vision of the Muse in April of 2017.
The next step was to scan all of the images, size and format them on the computer, and get everything ready for printing. The cards will be of thick, high quality card stock, with a glossy finish, and antique gold edges. They will come with a full color lidded tuck box.
I wrote a guidebook to accompany the deck. It includes brief guidelines for using the deck, how to interpret reversals, and divinatory meanings for the 33 cards. The booklet cover will be full color, with black and white inside pages. The guidebook is included with purchase of the deck, and will be tucked inside the box with the cards.
The funds raised for this project will go directly to publishing the first printing of Vision of the Muse. With my last Kickstarter, I was not only able to successfully print my Tarot deck, but to continue to print it and share it with the world. It is in its third printing, and is being sold in shops in the U.S. and abroad. My wish is for the same thing to happen with this new project.
Risks and challenges
I believe that it takes immense bravery to release any form of art. Art is so personal, and often comes from the inner depths of ones being. To then let go, and release the work to the public, places the artist in a state of vulnerability. This is true for me, therefore is always one of the risks.
I had to learn completely new skill sets with this project. Being a more analog kind of artist, the technological world is more foreign to me. I completed all of the production work on the computer myself this time around. It was a rewarding challenge that took patience and perserverance.
In 2017 I had to learn how to run an online shop, and also be a wholesaler.
The Lioness Oracle Tarot has enjoyed success so far, and it has been a lot of hard work. Adding Vision of the Muse into the mix will be double the work!!! I am up to the challenge!
