About this project
AN INTERESTING AND BEAUTIFUL WAY FOR KIDS TO LEARN THE ABCs!
The Curious ABCs was designed to make the the experience of learning the ABCs a more engaging and interesting one for kids. At the same time, it was intended to be a beautiful object that would look great as a piece of art in your home.
We live in a very dynamic world, and we are presented with more imagery and information than ever before. The Curious ABCs is a reflection of this new reality. It is not only a rich and stimulating alphabet, but it also helps prepare children to be able to absorb and make associations with a lot of information.
As we head into a new school year, it seems like the perfect time to launch The Curious ABCs book and app for the iPad. But we need your support to bring these products to market.

I began each letter by skimming through the dictionary to find interesting things that began with each respective letter - things that would resonate with a variety of ages. Once I settled on a list of 10 to 20 words I then began to sketch out what each thing might look like, and eventually shortened the list to 6 to 8 objects. At that point I sketched a rough composition of the letter and then moved to the computer where I digitally illustrated each object on a Wacom tablet (digital pad).
When I finished the W and A I realized there was an opportunity to create the entire alphabet. Also, as friends began to see the framed prints I had in our home, I began getting requests for specific letters for other names. As I worked my way through the alphabet I would follow-up and send out the letters and they were very well received.
“The prints--I can’t even begin to say how much I love them. They’re already hanging up in their room.” - Jessika
“Thank you so much! I am in love with her ‘M’! It was by far the best and most special gift!” - Meaghan
The framed letters have since been given as gifts for baby showers, kid's birthdays, mother's day, and many other events. To see the full collection of letters you can visit http://www.thecuriousabcs.com. Here are some details.
